GAC Aion N60 Launched in 3 Variants: 610 km Range EV from $16,090

The electric vehicle brand Aion under the GAC Group has introduced N60 for the domestic market in three variants. They are the 410 Ultra, 510 Ultra, and 610 Ultra with the prices of 109,800 yuan (16,090 USD), 119,800 yuan (17,560 USD), and 129,800 yuan (19,025 USD), respectively.

The N60 is a crossover SUV inspired by minivan design; reports say that it is a replacement of the Y Plus. It comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in layouts 2 and 3. It has a boot space of 447 liters, which is ample to carry four big pieces of luggage, which can be expanded to 1,947 liters by folding down the rear seats, which helps with carrying multiple pieces of luggage.

The dimensions of the vehicle are 4615 mm in length, 1860 mm (or 1883 mm) in width, 1673 mm in height, and 2775 mm in wheelbase, meaning it has the same footprint as the BYD Atto 3 and Xpeng G6. It is available in seven color options, which are Star Ring Silver, Soft Gold, Clear Sky Blue, Polar White, Night Shadow Black, Cloud Grey, and Sea Glow Grey.

Up front, the N60 comes with a closed-off grille for modern styling and improved efficiency with better aerodynamics. The headlights are connected with full-width DRLs for styling, but they result in giving better visibility. An illuminated logo of ‘AION’ is visible at the center, reflecting the brand identity.

In profile, the vehicle gets semi-flush-type door handles that reduce drag and also feature practicality. It comes with a sloping roofline to add a sporty coupe-SUV feeling and enhances stability. Available with 17-inch & 18-inch alloy wheel options for bold road presence.

At the rear, it features dual-line LED taillights in connected styling to create a wide stance and add a premium touch. The roof-mounted spoilers are also available to enhance sporty appearance, and get a tailgate with a clean layout with ‘AION’ and ‘N60’ badges on the left and right, respectively.

Cabin & Technology

The N60’s cabin is equipped with a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen for occupant infotainment, also acting as a control panel, that runs on the ADiGO 6.0 intelligent cockpit system featuring a voice assistant with natural language commands, multiple device connectivity such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and smart ecosystem applications.

Also get an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data. The driver is electronically adjustable with a memory function, and the front passenger seat comes with the zero-gravity features. Both of them have massage, ventilation, and heating functions. The rear seat features reclining from 117° to 137° to relax during long drives.

The interior has three theme options that are soft light white, caramel warm velvet, and cool grey. Features a 2.38 m² panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade that makes the cabin bright and airy, a wireless charger of 50 W, a PM2.5 air purification system, a built-in 6.6 L fridge for heating and cooling, and an 11-speaker sound system for a better audio experience.

It features a LiDAR-based advanced driving assistant system powered by a Qualcomm chip with computing power of 200 TOPs, which also features a 4D millimeter-wave radar. It enables NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) for urban roads and highways, which makes the driving almost autonomous and stress-free.

Powertrain & Performance

The N60 comes with a single-motor front-wheel drive configuration and a single-speed automatic transmission. Its power output is 165 kW (221 hp), and peak torque is 151 lb-ft (205 Nm). It comes with three battery packs, 45.582 kWh, 57.433 kWh, and 69.753 kWh, whose CLTC range is 410 km (255 miles), 510 km (317 miles), and 610 km (379 miles), respectively.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) takes 7.9 seconds to 8.5 seconds depending on the battery pack, and the top speed is 160 km (100 mph) for all variants. It supports a DC charger up to 180 kW, which takes 25 minutes to 30 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging. It comes with an 11 kWh AC portable charger for charging at homes, which takes 7-9 hours for the full charge.
