Honda To Launch Hybrid And Electric SUV Lineup In India To Compete With Hyundai And Tata Motors

Honda, a Japanese automaker, is preparing for a major comeback in India, which will include hybrid as well as electric vehicles. Honda is going to launch 10 new models in India in the next few years, including 7 SUVs.

The Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV, Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV, and Honda Elevate Hybrid are the three sport utility vehicles that will very soon be introduced in the Indian market; in this article, we have discussed them in detail.

Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV

Honda has already started testing the 0 Alpha electric SUV, which is manufactured at the Tapukara plant. It is going to be a mass-market EV SUV from Honda for India, whose ex-showroom price is expected to be between ₹17 and ₹22 lakh. 

It is built on an all-new dedicated EV platform, with a “thin, light, and wise” philosophy. It is expected to come with a 65 kWh to 75 kWh LFP battery pack, which will give a range of around 450 km on a single charge. It does support fast charging, which charges the battery from 15 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes.

The Honda e:Alpha Electric SUV comes with a single-motor rear-wheel drive option, which generates the power of 140 to 180 hp. The acceleration timing of 0 to 100 km/h is expected to be around 7 to 8 seconds, and the top speed is likely to be around 150 km/h.

Its exterior includes futuristic, clean and aerodynamic styling, a full-width LED light bar, flush door handles and an illuminated Honda logo; and the interior features Large touchscreen infotainment, fully digital instrument cluster, connected car tech with OTA updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and premium audio system.

Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV

Expected to be launched in the Indian market most probably by the second quarter of 2026, whose ex-showroom price is likely to be between ₹50 and ₹60 lakh. It is quite a long SUV with a 2650 mm wheelbase, which provides better stability at high speed.

It is based on e:HEV strong hybrid technology, which comes with a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle petrol and dual electric motors. In India, it is going to be introduced with a front-wheel drive option. In terms of performance, it generates the power of 181 to 184 bhp and torque of 315 Nm.

The acceleration timing is likely to be 7.6 seconds, and the top speed is expected to be above 170 km/h, which provides a smooth and silent driving experience. The fuel efficiency of the Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV is 22 km/l, which is good in the segment.

Its cabin features a premium soft-touch interior, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a fully digital driver display and wireless charging; and the exterior is quite stylish, which makes it recognisable even in heavy traffic.

Honda Elevate Hybrid

The Honda Elevate Hybrid is an upcoming strong-hybrid version of the popular Elevate SUV, which is expected to address the low mileage concerns of current petrol models. It will feature a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and dual electric motors. 

It is expected to generate 120–126 hp power and 250 Nm torque, contributing to smooth and silent city driving. Its fuel efficiency is expected to be between 26 and 27 km/l and give a range of around 950 km. Pricing details aren’t yet disclosed but are likely to be around ₹16 lakh.

The length is going to be the same as the existing model, which measures 4312 mm, 1790 mm, 1650 mm and 2650 mm in terms of length, width, height and wheelbase. The ground clearance will be 220 mm, and the boot space is 458 litres, which can easily carry five big pieces of luggage.

The interior is expected to include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, an electric sunroof and premium upholstery. Additionally, we will also get 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, Hill Start Assist and other smart features.
