Mercedes-Benz CLA EV: Luxury All-Electric Sedan To Make Its Debut On 24 April In India

Details regarding the launch of the most highly anticipated EV in India from a German automaker have finally surfaced. The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is set to make its debut in India on April 24, 2026. The CLA nameplate was previously available in India in its ICE variant prior to 2020, and it is now making a comeback with its electrification.

According to reports, the all-electric CLA is set to make its entry into India as an entry-level luxury electric vehicle; its launch is expected to replace the A-Class Limousine as well as the EQA and EQB lineups. It is slated to arrive in the Indian market in two variants: the 200 and the 250+ with an expected ex-showroom price ranging between ₹55 lakh and ₹59 lakh.

What do we know about the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV?

Coinciding with the announcement of the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV’s launch date, its specifications and features have also surfaced across the web. Here, we have provided a detailed discussion below regarding its powertrain and performance, exterior and design, and interior and features.

Powertrain & Performance

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is set to be available in two variants: the 200 will come with a standard range, while the second, the 250+, will feature a long range. The standard variant has a WLTP range of 542 km, while the long-range variant offers 792 km.

Details regarding the ‘200’ variant have not yet been released, but the ‘250+’ variant is currently available in the international market. The ‘250+’ model features an 85 kWh battery pack and is equipped with a single motor mounted on the rear wheels, delivering a power output of 268 hp and 335 Nm of torque.

The drivetrain for the ‘250+’ variant is a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration, paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. In terms of acceleration, it takes just 6.7 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, and it boasts a top speed of 209 km/h.

Reports have confirmed that, just like in the international market, its electrical architecture in India will also be 800 volts. The maximum DC charging power is set to be 240 kW, which will enable the 200 variant to cover 320 km with just 20 minutes of charging and the 250 variant to cover over 400 km.

Exterior & Design

The all-electric variant of the CLA features a futuristic design, based on Mercedes’ “Sensual Purity” philosophy. Like other EVs, its front grille is closed; however, the illuminated star patterns embedded within it lend it a modern aesthetic, while the lit-up three-pointed star logo highlights its brand presence.

Furthermore, it features sleek LED headlamps that are visually connected by a light strip spanning the width of the vehicle. Its side profile is quite sleek and sporty, thanks to a coupe-like silhouette, frameless doors, flush door handles, and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels.

The rear styling draws strong inspiration from the concept, featuring a full-width LED light bar, star-pattern LED tail lamps, and a clean, minimalist bumper design.

It is set to be introduced in five colour options: Clear Blue, Patagonia Red, Polar White, Cosmic Black, and Alpine Grey, which means buyers will have multiple colour options available, allowing them to choose the one that best suits their preferences.

The length, width, height, and wheelbase of 4,723mm, 1,855mm, 1,468mm, and 2,790mm, respectively, will be identical for both versions of the CLA EV; this means that while there may be differences in powertrain and performance, both will remain visually indistinguishable.

Interior & Features

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will arrive in the Indian market with a 5-seater layout, two seats in the front and three in the rear. The seating arrangement will be comfortable for four adults, given its coupe-style roofline.

It offers a boot capacity of 405 litres, capable of accommodating three large suitcases; additionally, it features a 100-litre ‘frunk’ (front storage compartment), which is useful for carrying small bags.

Its interior is tech-enabled, which includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 14-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, which is based on the MBUX system with an AI-based voice assistant. The operating system used in it features Mercedes’ next-generation software, which is the MB.OS operating system.

It also has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the AI assistant in its cabin also responds to voice commands. Its front seats are powered and the rear heated to ensure better comfort. It comes with a panoramic glass sunroof which provides protection from heat.

Its cabin also features automatic climate control and ambient lighting. It features six USB-C ports that support fast charging of up to 100 kW and also includes convenient amenities such as a wireless phone charging pad and cup holders for both front and rear passengers.

To ensure occupant safety, the vehicle is equipped with multiple airbags as well as advanced features such as Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring. According to reports, it has received a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
