Top EV Selling in March 2026: India’s Electric Car Boom Continues with Record Growth

We are all aware that the adoption of EVs in India is accelerating at a rapid pace. But in light of the recent conflict that has erupted in the Middle East, many people are convinced that fuel-related challenges will intensify in the future, so consumers have now begun opting for EVs over ICE vehicles.

The electric vehicle (cars) sales in March 2026 showed improvement compared to those in February 2026. While the number of electric cars sold in February 2026 stood at 14,173 units, it rose to 22,236 units in March 2026, marking a MOM growth of 57%. 

Top EV Selling in March 2026

Tata Motors 

In March 2026, they sold a total of 8,216 units of electric cars. In February 2026, it stood at just 5,616 units, representing a month-on-month growth of 46%; furthermore, in terms of market share, the company holds a 37.5% share.

MG Motors

In March 2026, they sold 5,113 electric car units, up from just 3,491 units in February 2026, marking a month-over-month growth of 46%. Now their market share stands at 23.3%.

Mahindra & Mahindra 

In March 2026, they sold a total of 5,095 electric car units. It represents a 67% increase compared to February 2026, as the sales figure for the previous month was only 3,044, and their market share now stands at 23.2%.

Maruti Suzuki 

In March 2026, they sold a total of 940 electric car units. When compared to the previous month, it represents a 322% month-on-month increase, as the sales figure for the preceding month stood at only 223 units. Currently, their market share stands at 4.3%.

VinFast 

In March 2026, they sold a total of 688 electric car units; last month, in February 2026, their sales figure stood at 414. A month-over-month comparison reveals a 66% increase, and as for their market share, it currently stands at 3.1%.

Hyundai Motors

In March 2026, they sold 473 units of electric cars; in February, this figure stood at 328. In terms of month-on-month growth, this represents a 44% increase, while their market share stands at 2.2%.

Kia Motors 

In March 2026, the total number of electric car units sold by the company stood at 457; last month, February 2026, it was 245. In terms of month-on-month growth, the figure stands at 87%, while its current market share is 2.1%.

BMW 

In March 2026, the total number of electric car units they sold stood at 434. Last month, it was 360; this represents a month-over-month growth of 70%. As for their market share, it stands at 2%.

BYD

In March 2026, they sold a total of 412 electric car units. In February 2026, this figure stood at just 312, though sales increased by 30% compared to the previous month, and their current market share stands at 1.9%.

Mercedes-Benz

In March 2026, the number of electric car units sold by the company stood at 96; in February 2026, it was 69. It represents a month-on-month growth of 39%, and their current market share stands at 0.4%.
