Kia Syros EV

The Kia Syros EV is a compact electric sport utility vehicle that is set to be launched in the Indian market very soon, most probably by late 2026. Its ex-showroom price is expected to range between ₹14 lakh and ₹18 lakh, and it will be based on the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform. Key specifications are the following:

  • It is set to come with a front-wheel-drive option featuring a single-speed automatic transmission. It is expected that, much like Hyundai’s Inster EV, this model will also be offered with 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs, delivering a range of 300 km and 400 km on a full charge, respectively.
  • With a 42 kWh battery, it produces 95 hp of power and 147 Nm of torque; and with a 48 kWh battery, it generates 113 hp of power and 200 Nm of torque. It takes around 11 to 12 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h with the standard battery and around 9 to 10 seconds with the long-range battery.
  • The top speed is around 145 km/h for the standard model and 155 km/h for the long-range model. Under fast charging conditions, the 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs take 28 minutes and 37 minutes, respectively, to charge from 30% to 80%; however, when using an 11 kW AC charger, a full charge will require an entire night.

Kia Sorento Hybrid

The Kia Sorento Hybrid is a seven-seater premium SUV that features the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille. Its ex-showroom price is expected to range between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh, with the launch anticipated in early 2027. The interior offers a spacious and premium feel; you can view its key specifications below:

  • It is offered with three different engine options and an electric motor in the global market, but its launch in India is likely with a 1.5-litre NA petrol hybrid. It is expected to be offered with both AWD and FWD options and six-speed manual transmission.
  • The combined power output of the motor and engine is expected to be 180 hp, with a torque of 280 Nm. Acceleration time is expected to be around 10 to 12 seconds for both FWD and AWD drivetrains, and the top speed is projected to be around 180 km/h.
  • Fuel efficiency is expected to range between 18 and 25 kmpl, 16 and 20 kmpl, and 17 and 22 kmpl in city driving conditions, figures that are considered quite impressive within its segment.

The Kia Syros EV is going to be an ideal option for city commuters & daily office users, first-time EV buyers, budget-conscious buyers and eco-conscious drivers, while the Kia Sorento Hybrid is for large families, highway travellers & road trip lovers, premium SUV buyers and people who want power with fuel efficiency.
