Volkswagen has officially disclosed the key features of its upcoming electric SUV, the Volkswagen ID. Cross EV, ahead of its global debut. It is expected that this electric vehicle will be introduced in the global market between September and November 2026.

The Volkswagen ID. Cross EV, an all-electric vehicle, is set to launch in the market in the autumn of 2026; it is expected that we will see its debut in the Asian market, including India, during the first quarter of 2027.

Volkswagen ID. Cross EV Price
The price of the Volkswagen ID. Cross EV is set to start at €28,000 in the European market, while higher-end variants could be priced at approximately €35,000. In India, its starting ex-showroom price is expected to range between ₹32 lakh and ₹35 lakh.
Volkswagen ID. Cross EV Specification
The Volkswagen ID. Cross EV is set to launch in the global market with two battery packs: a 37 kWh LFP unit and a 52 kWh NMC unit, which will generate power outputs of 116 hp to 135 and 221 hp, respectively, with a maximum torque of 290 Nm.
With a 37 kWh LPF battery pack, this electric car has a WLTP range of 316 kilometres, and with a 52 kWh NMC pack, it has a range of 436 kilometres on a full charge, and the top speeds are 150 km/h and 160 km/h, respectively.
The 37 kWh and 54 kWh batteries have DC charging capacities of 90 kW and 105 kW, respectively. With maximum power, it takes 27 minutes and 24 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% for the standard and long-range variants. It does support AC charging up to 11 kW, which takes overnight for a full charge.
The 0 to 100 km acceleration timing of this EV has not been disclosed officially, but it is expected that the standard range variant, i.e., with a 37 kWh battery, will take 10 to 12 seconds, and the long range variant, i.e., with a 52 kWh battery, will take 7 to 8 seconds.

The dimensions of the Volkswagen ID. The Cross EV has also been officially released; its length, width, and height measure 4,153 mm, 1,794 mm, and 1,581 mm, respectively. As for its wheelbase, it stands at 2,601 mm, a decent length that ensures stability at high speeds while providing ample legroom for rear-seat passengers.
Regarding ground clearance, the European-market version measures 140 mm; however, it is expected that upon its launch in India, this figure will be increased to approximately 160–170 mm to better suit Indian road conditions.
The vehicle offers a boot space of 475 litres, capable of comfortably accommodating three to four large suitcases. Additionally, it features a 22-litre front storage compartment (frunk), making it convenient to carry personal accessories such as power banks, charging cables, and the like.

In terms of design, the Volkswagen ID.4 Cross EV features premium-style LED headlights and taillights, while the higher-end variants will also come equipped with Matrix lights.
The connected lighting and illuminated logo give it an eye-catching appeal, and it will feature high-quality alloy wheels ranging in size from 17 to 20 inches, depending on the variant.
Additionally, it will include functional roof rails capable of comfortably supporting a load capacity of up to 75 kilograms.

The interior of the Volkswagen ID. The Cross EV is truly special, offering a distinct cabin-like feel. The seats are crafted from exceptionally soft materials, ensuring that even long-distance journeys remain comfortable.
The vehicle features two digital screens: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. Additionally, it is equipped with advanced technologies such as dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera, and keyless entry.
The audio system will be provided by Harman Kardon, a brand synonymous with the premium segment. The front seats feature 12-way power adjustment with memory and massage functions. Furthermore, they also offer wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.
