The Chinese carmaker Build Your Dreams’ Indian subsidiary BYD India is all set to expand its EV portfolio. Reportedly, the upcoming pure-electric cars from the automobile manufacturer are BYD Atto 2 and Next-Gen BYD Atto 3. The former one is expected to make its debut in India in late 2026, and the latter is anticipated to be launched by early 2027. However, BYD India is yet to reveal actual dates for their launch in the country. Let’s have a closer look at each of them.

The Next-Gen BYD Atto 3 is a five-door, five-seater, all-electric, mid-size SUV with a length of 4,665 mm, a width of 1,895 mm, and a height of 1,675 mm. Compared to the current model available for sale in India, it is 10 mm longer, 20 mm wider, and 60 mm taller. In China, its launch happened on May 21, 2026. Reportedly, BYD India may introduce it with ex-showroom prices from 35 to 40 lakh rupees.
Set to be offered with two different BYD’s next-generation LFP blade battery packs that are 57.54 kWh and 68.54 kWh, which gives the CLTC range of 540 km and 630 km, respectively. In India, it may come with a rear-wheel drive configuration featuring an electric motor on the rear axle, which puts out 272 hp and 325 hp with the standard and larger battery packs; both have a torque of 380 Nm.
To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, it takes only 5.9 seconds, and top speed goes up to 200 km/h. Notably, it supports BYD’s megawatt-level ultra-fast DC charger, which can charge 10 to 70 percent in just 5 minutes and 9 minutes for up to 97 percent. Now it is yet to be seen that the Chinese automaker will market it in India with the same charging speed. As of now, it is unlikely that they will install BYD flash-charging stations in India.
