New Volkswagen ID. UNYX 08 SUV Debuts in China With 800V Charging and 370 kW Power

Volkswagen Anhui, Volkswagen Group’s electric vehicle joint venture in China, has finally launched an updated VW ID. UNYX 08, a five-seater pure-electric SUV, on September 12, 2026. Compared to the existing model, the price of the new one is reduced by 40,000 yuan (600 USD). The three variants are available for sale, which are Pure, Ultra Plus and Max Plus. Let’s have a closer look.

What’s the updated VW ID. UNYX 08 SUV price?

The refreshed VW ID. UNYX 08 sport utility vehicle price for the Pure is 189,900 yuan (28,030 USD), for Ultra Plus is 219,900 yuan (32,450 USD), and for Max Plus is 249,900 yuan (36,850 USD). There are two additional models under the Lieying edition; they are rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive with the prices of 219,900 yuan (32,450 USD) and 249,900 yuan (36,850 USD). 

Any powertrain update on revamped Volkswagen ID UNYX 08?

The updated Volkswagen ID UNYX 08 Pure, Ultra Plus, and Lieying RWD get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle that delivers 230 kW power, while Max Plus and Lieying AWD get an induction motor on the front axle and a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle that generates 370 kW. The one with two electric motors takes only 4.9 seconds for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration.

The top speed for both the RWD and AWD variants is 200 kmph. The electrical architecture is 800 volts for all variants, and they all have an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving the range up to 730 km and 700 km for single and double motor variants, respectively. With the 315 KW DC charger, it takes 20 minutes for 10 to 80 per cent charging.

The length is 5,000 mm with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, a width of 1,954 mm and a height of 1,672 mm to 1,688 mm. It is a five-seater electric car whose seating layout is 2-3. A 1.74 sq m sunroof is clearly visible from the cabin. There’s a boot space of 766 litres behind the second row, which is expandable up to 1,845 litres by folding the rear seat.

Interior features and technology for the updated VW ID UNYX 08.

The cabin has a black-and-orange interior theme with light-coloured upholstery; other feature highlights are the wide centre console, the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, the 14.96-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, and also an entertainment screen of the same before the co-passenger seat. 

The infotainment system runs on Volkswagen OS 2.2, which is powered by two Xpeng Turing AI chips with 1,500 TOPS computing power. It is equipped with the Xpeng VLA 2.0 driver-assistance system, which features highway and urban navigation assistance to make the driving stress-free and parking-space-to-parking-space assisted driving to enhance parking convenience.

What’s the new VW ID UNYX 08 suspension and braking?

The updated Volkswagen ID UNYX 08 all-electric sport utility vehicle is built on the Xpeng Edward platform, which also underpins the Xpeng G9. It features a high-strength safety cage and underbody protection for the battery pack. Equipped with the dual-chamber air springs with double-wishbone independent as front suspension and five-link independent as rear. 

This car also has DCC electronically controlled damping. Two wheel size options are available; they are 20-inch and 21-inch. Solid disc brakes are standard for both wheels; they also have electronic stability control, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist to enhance braking safety for all.
