Li Auto, the Chinese automobile manufacturer, has officially come with the most awaited full-size all-electric SUV for the Indian market. They have officially introduced the model in the Chinese market on September 16, 2026, in a single variant, Home. This SUV has a futuristic design, is equipped with smart and high-tech features, gives better range, and supports fast charging, killing the range anxiety. Let’s have a closer look at this electric SUV.

Li i9 EV launched.

The Li i9 EV goes on sale in the Chinese market with a price of 369,800 yuan, which translates to 54,400 USD. It is a six-seater all-electric sport utility vehicle with a layout of 2-2-2 with the zero-gravity captain chairs in the middle to enhance seating comfort. The length, width, and height of this electric car are 5,225 mm, 1,970 mm, and 1,752 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,168 mm and a minimum turning radius of 10.6 meters.

Motor setup and performance.

Two electric motors are available; one is mounted on the front and the other on the rear. The front is an asynchronous induction motor, and the rear is a permanent magnet synchronous motor; the combined power output is 400 kW (536 hp), and the peak torque is 660 Nm. Its 0 to 100 kmph acceleration timing is 4.9 seconds.

Since the motor is present on both axles, its drivetrain is all-wheel-drive. Its rear motor is mated with the single-speed automatic reduction gearbox. Its top speed is still pending. The sprinting timing for 0 to 100 kmph is a claimed figure; the real world may take 0.5 to 1 second depending on the battery charging percentage.

Battery pack and range.

Equipped with the 101 kWh ternary lithium battery pack beneath the floor, which powers the electric motors that move the wheels. After each full charge, it gives the 705 km range on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. Being built on 800 volts, it supports 5C charging, which takes 10 minutes for a CLTC range of 500 km. 

The real-world range is set to vary depending on driving style and road condition. For city driving, it may give less range compared to on the highway, because city driving needs a lot of braking after a short while because of the driving rule. The real-world range will be 12 to 15 percent less than the claimed figure.

Features and technology.

This electric car is equipped with both a steer-by-wire system for better steering precision and rear-wheel steering to reduce turning radius. Its cabin has a D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel, behind which there’s no driver display; instead, it gets an AR-HUD that projects driving data on the windshield and a long center console that boasts a wireless phone charging pad, cupholders, and a hidden storage compartment.

Its dashboard is equipped with a 29-inch 6K panoramic screen that includes an infotainment system for the driver and an entertainment screen for the co-passenger, and there’s also a 21-inch 4K screen in the second for the entertainment of occupants. To ensure an immersive audio experience inside the cabin, it has a 29-speaker sound system. For convenience and refreshments for occupants, there’s also a 10-liter built-in refrigerator with both heating and cooling functions.

Underpinning and exterior design.

The Li i9 is built on the Li Auto second-generation BEV platform, which has dual-chamber dual-valve air suspension. It has an integrated dual-door ring structure with the 2,000 MPa high-strength structural material to ensure better rigidity and safety. It had a Star Ring daytime running light, and main headlamps were placed on the side of the front bumper for better visibility on the road at night.

On the sides, it has a streamlined side profile, a two-tone body design, floating-roof styling, a semi-hidden flush-type door, and flared wheel arches bracketing the alloy wheels; the rear of this electric car has a roof-integrated spoiler, a full-width LED taillight, and a skid plate on the bumper that also has a slim horizontal-shaped reflector.
