Around the festive season of 2026, Tata. Cars will expand the EV lineup for the India market. After launching the Tata Sierra EV in June 2026, the Indian carmaker is all set to launch the Tata Safari EV, which is an all-electric SUV with a seating capacity of seven people in a 2-3-2 layout.
On Indian roads, this upcoming electric sport utility vehicle has been spied testing multiple times, but every time in heavy camouflage trying to hide the exterior design before the official unveiling.
Recently this upcoming seven-seater electric car has been spotted testing again, whose interior spy shots are floating on the internet. Thanks to those new spy shots, more details about this upcoming electric seven-seater vehicle have emerged.
What do the new spy shots reveal?
The recently clicked image of the upcoming Tata Safari EV includes the photo of the exterior’s left side and rear part in heavy catalogue; one of these images also shows the cabin’s dashboard through the co-passenger side windshield.
The exterior image confirms that the design for this upcoming electric vehicle is quite similar to the Tata Safari that is already on sale in the Indian market with the internal combustion engine.
This EV will debut with the same body as that we get to see on the Tata Safari, but the little tweaks and changes on the sides and rear are certain. The front-end design is going to be totally new with the closed-off grille, modern LED lighting setup, and revised bumper.
The spied image that shows a portion of the cabin reveals that there will be three screens on the dashboard: one before the co-passenger seat as an entertainment display, one in the center of the dashboard as an infotainment system, and one behind the steering wheel as a digital instrument cluster.
Reports suggest that the size of the screens placed on the left and side of the middle one will be similar, and the one in the center is set to be a large one that will give a mini theater experience.
Apart from these details, nothing regarding the interior features is officially confirmed. We are expecting that this upcoming EV will borrow most of the features and technology from the ICE counterpart, but it is yet to be seen.

What else do we know about it?
Like other EVs that Tata.Cars have launched in the Indian market by diverting them from the ICE counterpart has similar dimensions; the same is also expected for the Tata Safari EV. The length, width, and height may be 4,668 mm, 1,922 mm, and 1,795 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 2,741 mm.
Even the suspension setup and braking system are expected to be borrowed from the Tata Safari as the ICE car. Regarding the powertrain, it has been reported that it will be similar to one that is offered with the Tata Harrier EV, although there’s no word about it from the carmaker.
Two lithium-iron phosphate battery packs are expected to be offered, providing choice to buyers; they may be 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The former is likely to be available with the variant that will come with a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, and the latter will also go on sale with an all-wheel-drive option.
The RWD drivetrain variants are set to get a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a single-speed automatic reduction gearbox on the rear axle, and the AWD drivetrain variant(s) will also have an induction motor on the front axle.
Any update on its pricing?
In the Tata.Cars electric vehicle lineup for the Indian market, the upcoming Tata Safari EV will be positioned above the Tata Harrier EV. So, it is certain that the upcoming electric car will be the most costly model from the brand till now.
The Tata Harrier EV is available with the starting ex-showroom price of ₹21.9 lakh, so we are expecting the start cost for the Tata Safari EV to be around ₹23.5 lakh. The actual price will be revealed by the carmaker at the launch event.
