BYD Fang Cheng Bao 5 & 8 Flash Charge Edition: 1,380 km Range & 305,800 Yuan

BYD’s premium personalised vehicle brand Fang Cheng Bao has introduced the new flash charging edition for two of its plug-in hybrid off-road sport utility vehicles in the domestic market that are Bao 5 and Bao 8.

The 2026 FCB Bao 5 is available for the price of 305,800 CNY (45,000 USD) and the 2026 FCB Bao 8 for 419,800 CNY (61,800 USD). Its main competitors are Tank 400 Hi4-T, Deepal G318 and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

The two newly introduced Bao 5 and Bao 8 are equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade LFP battery featuring ultra-fast charging. With this upgrade, now the overall range is 1,310 km for Bao 5 and 1,380 km for Bao 8, respectively, on CLTC conditions.

These two 2026 models aren’t only upgraded with more efficient and fast charging; they also feature BYD’s DiSus-P Ultra suspension system, which combines hydraulic suspension, adaptive dampers, electronic control, ride-height adjustment and body-stabilisation software.

The system is designed in a way that it monitors wheel movement, terrain conditions, body roll, steering input, speed and suspension travel, which helps in automatically adjusting damping force, ride height, wheel articulation and body balance.

The main feature of this suspension system is that it has an adjustable ride height of 200 mm, meaning its ground clearance can be increased or decreased by this height, increasing help in better off-roading and decreasing it with better aerodynamics on highways.

Its lifting capacity is 9 tonnes, which allows wheel rescue functions and tyre replacement support. Interestingly, it also supports three-wheel driving in case of a tyre blowout. Also features suspended tyre replacement which helps in wheel changing in just 3 minutes.

The most interesting thing about this suspension system is that it even works properly in extreme weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 40°C to 85°C, to ensure that the car runs smoothly in all situations.

Besides this high-tech suspension, the new Bao 5 gets BYD God’s Eye-B assisted driving system, which works with LiDAR to ensure smooth driving even in the case of difficult terrain and low-light driving; and the Bao 8 Huawei ADS V4.1.5 with a double LiDAR setup.

The car also comes with an optional interior feature with the price of 3899 CNY (574 USD) that is a smart connected vehicle radio, which supports voice calling via infotainment. Even its exterior has received an upgrade; now its roof is painted in four new double-tone options.
