BYD has officially introduced the Atto 1, all-electric hatchback, in Thailand, coinciding with its showcase at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026; there, it is priced at 429,900 Baht and 459,900 Baht for the base and top variant, respectively.
It is BYD’s smallest EV, also known as the Seagull and Dolphin Surf in the global market. Its launch date in India has not been disclosed, but expectations are that it will be launched in the Indian market in mid-2027 with an ex-showroom price of ₹12-15 lakh.
BYD Atto 1
The BYD Atto 1 is set to launch in India with the exact same specifications and features as the model released in Thailand. BYD Atto 1 Specifications
The base variant, Dynamic, comes with a 30.08 kWh (LFP Blade) battery, while the top-end variant, premium, features a 38.88 kWh (LFP Blade) battery. Both models are equipped with a single motor mounted on the front wheels, meaning the drivetrain is FWD, and, as is typical for an electric vehicle, the transmission is a single-speed automatic.
The Dynamic variant generates 74 hp of power and 175 Nm of torque, with an acceleration time of 11.1 seconds, a top speed of 130 km/h, and a WLTP range of 240 km; the Premium variant generates 154 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque, featuring an acceleration time of 9.1 seconds, a top speed of 150 km/h, and a WLTP range of 310 km.
Both the Dynamic and Premium variants support both DC and AC charging. The maximum DC charging capacity is 30 kW and 40 kW, respectively, which takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. The maximum AC charging capacity is the same for both variants, 6.6 kW; this takes 6–7 hours to charge from 0% to 100% for the dynamic variant and 7–8 hours for the premium variant.
BYD Atto 1: Dimensions & Space
The dimensions of the BYD Atto 1 in terms of length, width, and height are 3,990 mm, 1,720 mm, and 1,590 mm, respectively; this makes it a small electric car, yet one with an attractive road presence. Its wheelbase measures 2,500 mm, which plays a crucial role in maintaining its stability, even at top speeds.
It features a ground clearance, the distance between the front and rear wheel, of 155 mm, which is excellent for easily navigating potholes and speed breakers. It has a seating capacity of four people and offers a boot space of 308 litres, allowing for the easy carriage of small luggage; however, it does not have a frunk.
BYD Atto 1 Exterior & Interior
The design of the BYD Atto 1 is ocean-inspired, modern, and sporty; it features sharp LED headlamps and DRLs, while at the rear, it sports full-width LED tail lamps. Its roof design is of the floating type, and it comes equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels. The electric vehicle is available in four colour options: white, black, green, and blue.
The cabin has a black & grey, modern minimalist layout; the dashboard is quite clean with smart ergonomics; the instrument cluster has a 7-inch digital display, and for the infotainment, it has a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Premium features like wireless charging and a 6-way powered driver’s seat are also included.
In terms of comfort and convenience, it features automatic climate control with a PM 2.5 filter, which ensures you breathe fresh air inside the cabin. Being an EV, it boasts a flat floor, resulting in superior legroom. Furthermore, the seats are crafted from a soft-touch material that provides a comfortable experience, even during long journeys.
BYD Atto 1 Safety & Security
The Dynamic variant of the BYD Atto 1 comes equipped with 4 airbags, while the Premium variant features 6 airbags, ensuring minimal injury in the event of an accident. Both variants include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, and traction control.
The Premium variant also incorporates Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, which include advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning or Lane Keep Assist, and Intelligent High Beam Assist.
