Toyota Hilux BEV Launched In Malaysia: 59.2 kWh Battery, 150 kW Fast Charging & AWD Setup

Toyota has introduced the Hilux BEV, an all-electric pickup truck, for the Malaysian market with a price of RM 226,300. Following its showcase at BIMS 2026 as the Hilux Travo-e, it features rugged body-on-frame Hilux DNA and is designed for both commercial and lifestyle use.

Battery & Range

It is equipped with a 59.2 kWh Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery, which NEDC gives a range of 315 km. The real-world range is likely to be around 250 km; it depends on driving style, speed, load, weather, road conditions and vehicle condition.

Charging

It supports both DC CCS2 and AC TYPE 2 charging, whose maximum capacities are 150 kW and 10 kW. With a DC CCS2 charger, it takes 30 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%, while the AC TYPE 2 charges 10 to 100% in 6.5 hours.

Powertrain & Performance

It features two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs); one is mounted with front wheels and the other with rear wheels. Thanks to the double-motor setup, it comes with an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain, and a single-speed automatic transmission gives a smooth and linear driving feel.

The front motor generates the power of 82 kW and torque of 206 Nm, while the rear one generates 129 kW power and torque of 269 Nm. Their combined power is 144 kW and torque is 470 Nm. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 10.8 seconds, and the top speed goes up to 160 km/h.

Dimensions & Space

The dimensions in terms of length, width and height are 5,320 mm, 1,855 mm and 1,845 mm, respectively, making its road presence bold. The long dimensions of 3,085 mm make the cabin spacious and give ample legroom also for rear-seating individuals.

Toyota Hilux BEV seats

It comes with a seating capacity of 5 people, with the layout of 2 and 3. The kerb weight is 2,455 kg, and the gross vehicle weight is 3,170 kg. The load space measures 1,560 mm in length, 1,540 mm in width, and 480 mm in height reflects its capability of carrying construction materials and commercial cargo.

Exterior & Design

Its design is inspired by the ‘Cyber Sumo’ concept, which features a signature electric vehicle (EV) look with a closed-off grille, as no need for engine cooling.

Get slim LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs in front that make it appear modern, and features a bold X-shaped bumper with a skid plate that gives it a bold stance.

It runs on 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, which improve efficiency. The strong shoulder line features a muscular look, and it gets side steps to get access to the cabin and cargo bed with ease.

The large tailgate, LED tail lamps with high-mounted stop lamp and flat cargo bed with the bedliner reflect its pickup truck identity. It is available with three colour options: they are Super White 2, Ash and Platinum White Pearl.

Interior & Features

The cabin is inspired by the Land Cruiser as it gets a horizontal dashboard layout with hexagonal design elements. It features a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with a Premium audio system.

A wireless charging pad and multiple USB-C ports are other features available for smooth connectivity. To ensure comfort and convenience, it gets dual-zone automatic climate control and rear AC vents.

Toyota Hilux BEV interior

The driver’s seat features 10-way power adjustable and the passenger seat comes with manual adjustment. Dual gloveboxes, large cupholders and storage bins, and a wide centre console improve the practicality even more.

For safety, it features Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional features are push-button start, keyless entry and multi-terrain select controls.
