The five most awaited electric cars in India are the Tata Tigor EV Facelift, the Tata Safari EV, the Hyundai HE1i, the Mahindra BE 07, and the Honda 0 Alpha. Their launch is set to boost the EV sales in India.
By the end of 2027, more than 10 electric cars are slated to be introduced to India. Among them, a few may hit the Indian market in the next few weeks. The four-wheeler electric vehicle sales are rapidly growing every month, which is set to see further boost. Of the upcoming e-cars, the five most awaited models are the Tata Tigor EV Facelift, Tata Safari EV, Hyundai HE1i, Mahindra BE 07, and Honda 0 Alpha. Let’s have a closer look.
Tata Tigor EV Facelift – A Compact EV.
The Tata Tigor EV Facelift is coming to the Indian market as a mid-life update to the existing model; it will be introduced with cosmetic changes and upgrades. The major tweaks are anticipated on the front end. The patent image hints that this upcoming car will have integrated headlights with black time of the centre just below the hood. The sides are set to remain the same as earlier, and the rear will have full-width LED taillamps.
Any date for the launch isn’t disclosed by Tata Motors. The report suggests that the manufacturer is planning to introduce it before the festive season, so we are expecting its launch to happen in late September 2026 or early October 2026. There won’t be any dimensions and powertrain changes, as per a recent report. The interior is set to have a refreshed cabin with updated upholstery and trim, and DC charging speed may be improved.
Tata Safari EV – Three-row Electric SUV.
Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the flagship seven-seater SUV Safari will get its pure-electric counterpart by Diwali 2026. Any date for the launch isn’t disclosed. The carmaker will launch this four-wheeler electric vehicle with both an FWD and an AWD drivetrain. The report confirms that two different battery packs will be offered for this model, but the capacity of either of them isn’t disclosed.
The design on the side and rear is highly anticipated to remain the same as the ICE version, its front end having a totally new design with a closed-off front grille with LED headlights set up. Its cabin may come with a triple-screen setup, one as a digital instrument cluster, one as an infotainment system, and one as the entertainment screen for co-passengers.
Hyundai HE1i – Sub-4-metre electric car.
Hyundai India has already confirmed the launch of a sub-4-metre SUV for the Indian market; as of now, it is internally codenamed as HE1i. It was reported that they will launch in India in the first quarter of 2027, but a recent report suggests it may come earlier, around late 2026; however, the Indian subsidiary of South Korean automobile manufacturer is yet to officially confirm the timeline.
This upcoming electric car is set to highly resemble the design of the recently launched Kia Syros EV; automotive reports even claim that the upcoming Hyundai EV will borrow a powertrain from the Kia e-car. It will cost ex-showroom between 9 and 12 lakh rupees and is set to compete with the mid-size electric SUVs already on sale in India, such as the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
Mahindra BE 07 – Smart Electric SUV
The Mahindra BE 07 is an upcoming all-electric SUV whose concept was showcased on 15 August 2022. Its production version has already been spotted testing on public roads in the India market, but with heavy camouflage, the spied image hints that the design is set to be quite similar to the concept version. Nothing about its launch is officially confirmed; all we know is that it will go on sale in around the second quarter of 2027.
This upcoming electric SUV is likely to become the first EV model under the Mahindra banner that will be offered with an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Three different LFP battery packs giving a different range depending on the owner’s needs are set to be introduced. Its cabin will be full of technology and smart features, enhancing comfort and convenience for the driver and passenger.
Honda 0 Alpha – First Honda Electric Car.
The Honda 0 Alpha is also a concept version that was showcased on 29 October 2025 at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, for an upcoming all-electric SUV for the Indian market. This Japanese carmaker hasn’t yet launched any electric car in India; the upcoming one will be the debut vehicle that will compete with the five-seater SUV that measures above 4 metres.
In the Indian market, this car is anticipated to go on sale in 2027. The report confirms that the carmaker will assemble it at Honda’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan and sell it locally at competitive prices. It will come as an FWD car with two battery packs; its cabin is set to be full of technology and smart features to make the cabin aesthetic and enhance comfort and convenience for all occupants.
