On October 20, 2026, the all-new BYD Seagull launched in the Chinese market. Build Your Dreams has launched this all-electric SUV announcing the price and revealing the specifications and features. Notably, the next-generation model is more affordable than the outgoing version. BYD has introduced a total of five variants for this model, and the price for each varies from one another.

The five variants of the new-generation BYD Seagull are Vitality, Freedom, Ease, Flight, and Smart. For every single variant, there’s a trade-in offer of 3,000 yuan (449 USD) for each. Notably, the Dolphin, Surf, Dolphin Mini, and Atto 1 are other names for this car across the globe. The main highlights from the all-new version are the second-generation BYD Blade battery and the optional LiDAR sensor.

Compared to the base variant of the outgoing BYD Seagull, the new one is affordable by 4,000 yuan, equivalent to 599 USD. BYD has not only reduced the price for the standard but also for others.

Now it is larger in size.

Launching the all-new BYD Seagull, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer has officially announced that the length, width and height are 4,205 mm, 1,810 mm and 1,570 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 2,650 mm. For clarity, the next-generation model is 425 mm longer with 150 mm more wheelbase, and it is even 96 mm wider and 30 mm taller.

The outgoing BYD Seagull features a seating capacity of 4 people in 2-2, meaning two people can sit in the front row and two in the second, but the new generation has 3 seats in the second row thanks to a longer, wider and taller body. The second row has ample space that can comfortably accommodate three individuals.

BYD also revealed its luggage carrying capacities. The boot space is 1380 litres by folding the second-row seats, enhancing practicality for carrying big luggage when only two persons are travelling, and there is also a frunk (front storage trunk) of 94 litres that helps with carrying the small items.

Multiple colour options are available.

BYD has introduced the all-new BYD Seagull compact electric car in a total of six exterior colour options providing choices. These colours are Lime Green, Berry Pink, Cream White, Mango Orange, Ice Coconut Blue, and Sesame Grey. Notably, each of these options is new. The options available for the outgoing version are Arctic Blue, Warm Sun White, Polar Night Black, and Peach Pink.

New-Gen BYD Seagull rearlook

Notably, the green, orange and grey options have been carried forward for the all-new version but with a different palette. BYD says that they have developed this model, retaining the “Marine Aesthetics” design language. Blackout pillars give floating effects, and its overall silhouette looks modern and aero-optimised with flush-type handles, a floating roofline, and multi-spoke black alloy wheels.

The drivetrain is now RWD.

BYD has disclosed with the launch that the all-new BYD Seagull features a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear wheels, meaning now it comes with an RWD drivetrain. The first two versions get a 30.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and the last three are equipped with a 39.2 kWh unit. The PMSM for the standard battery pack version delivers 85 kW, but for the large option it puts out 95 kW.

Officially unveiled details show that the Vitality and Freedom variants run up to 320 km, and Ease, Flight, and Smart give a range of 420 km on CLTC conditions. It also has been officially confirmed that because of the Blade 2.0 battery, it supports ultra-fast charging that charges the EV’s battery from 10 to 70 per cent in 5 minutes, and charging up to 97 per cent from 10 takes only 9 minutes.

Intelligent driving assistant.

Inside the cabin, we get a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit system, and it also has DeepSeek AI integration. Other features with which this car is equipped, as per reports, are the 50-watt wireless phone charging pad and power-adjustable front seats—the driver seat is adjustable in six ways, but the co-passenger only in four ways.

New-Gen BYD Seagull Cabin

The DiPilot 300 (God’s Eye B) system is available as optional with the LiDAR on the roof, which enables navigation autopilot for both city driving and highway cruising. For safety purposes, its cabin has six airbags that play a crucial role in saving life during the unfortunate collision. The 127-colour ambient lighting and massage functions for the driver seat further enhance cabin premiumness.
