Next-Gen BYD Han

The next-generation BYD Han is an upcoming five-seater sedan; its core specifications have recently surfaced on the Internet because of the China MIIT filing catalogue release for October 2026. Reports suggest the carmaker will launch it domestically before the year 2027 arrives.

The online surfaced details reveal that the new-generation model will make its debut with both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid electric powertrains. In the brand’s Han family, the all-new BYD Han will sit above the existing BYD Han L and below the recently launched BYD Da Han.

Notably, the all-electric will go on sale in three, and the plug-in hybrid electric in only one variant. The homologation records reveal the EV version is all set to be available with a rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrain, and it is the only PHEV with a front-wheel-drive drivetrain.

Length exceeds 5 meters.

The upcoming all-new BYD Han sedan measures 5,156 mm in length and 1,969 mm in width. Two heights surfaced in the filing details; they are 1,492 mm and 1,507 mm. For clarity, it is 161 mm longer, 59 mm wider, and 3 mm shorter and 12 mm taller compared to the outgoing model.

The wheelbase is shown as 3,030 mm; compared to the current-generation version, it is 110 mm more. Due to the longer wheelbase, it has now become more stable at high speed, and even the second-row seating comfort has been enhanced due to more legroom, shoulder room, and headroom.

EV with both AWD and RWD drivetrains.

The all-electric entry-level rear-wheel-drive drivetrain version code named as BYD7000CEBEV2 in the China MIIT filing features a permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the mid-range version that is code named as BYD7000CEBEV3 also has a PMSM. Notably, the revealed top speed for both RWD drivetrain variants is 240 km/h.

The entry-level RWD version puts out 245 kW (~329 hp), but the mid-range delivers 300 kW (~402 hp). China’s MIIT filling release also reveals the curb weight, 2,005 kg for the less powerful version, while the same for the other one is 2,125 kg.

The only all-electric all-wheel-drive drivetrain variant that is code-named as BYD7000CEBEV1 has an AC asynchronous motor on the front axle and a PMSM on the rear that put out 200 kW and 320 kW, respectively; the combined power output is 520 kW (~697 hp), as per the surfaced details.

The curb weight is 2,351 kg, and the top speed is 270 km/h for the all-electric AWD version. Revealed information also includes that both the RWD and AWD variants use the LPF blade battery sourced from the brand’s subsidiary FinDreams Battery; however, it is still uncertain if they are 2.0.

PHEV in only one variant.

The only plug-in hybrid electric version that comes with a front-wheel-drive drivetrain is code named as BYD7150CE6HEV1, which has a 1,498 cc 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood that is mated with an electric motor.

The ICE’s model is BYD472ZQB; its maximum power output is 115 kW, and net is 110 kW, and the electric motor delivers 200 kW. Homologation records also have revealed its curb weight and top speed; they are 2,115 kg and 200 km/h, respectively.

Other details surfaced.

Both the next-generation BYD Han EV and PHEV are equipped with the Event Data Recorders as standard and Bosch Integrated Power Brake. The images that appeared in the China MIIT filing catalogue release can be seen with the LiDAR on the roof, a clear hint that this sedan is coming with the intelligent ADAS features such as NOA.
