3rd BYD Qin Plus

The all-new BYD Qin Plus is an upcoming plug-in hybrid electric sedan whose core specifications surfaced after its appearance in the China MIIT filing catalogue release for July 2026. Reports suggest that Built Your Dreams will launch this electrified model in the domestic market in late October 2026. Recently, the brand has officially released the interior images, revealing all the features.

What’s inside the cabin?

The interior images of the BYD Qin Plus show a double D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel before the driving seat, which has the BYD logo and physical buttons. Behind the steering wheel, there’s a slim, horizontal-shaped digital instrument cluster. The dashboard’s centre can be seen with the floating touchscreen infotainment system.

The central tunnel between the front seats has two wireless phone charging pads, two cup holders, and a hidden storage compartment. Other highlights from the cabin are semi-hidden air conditioning vents, soft ambient interior lighting, and a panoramic glass sunroof. Official images that show the second row reveal three seats with separate headrests, ensuring better comfort for all.

What else we know about it?

Details that were revealed via the China MIIT filing catalogue release show that the upcoming third-generation BYD Qin Plus length, width, and height are 4,840 mm, 1,900 mm, and 1,498 mm, respectively, with the 2,800 mm wheelbase. Other officially revealed details are the kerb weight of 1,545 kg and gross vehicle weight of 1,940 kg.

Notably, the outing version is 60 mm, 63 mm narrower, and 17 mm shorter than the upcoming one. Not only are length, width and height extended, but even the wheelbase has been stretched 82 mm. It means the all-new version will ensure better seating comfort in the second row. The 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheel options will be available.

Surface details also have revealed the front and rear overhang. The former is 978 mm, and the latter is 1,062 mm. Its approach and departure angle are 13 degrees and 14 degrees. This plug-in hybrid electric sedan is equipped with the DM-i hybrid system, getting a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered ICE under the hood.

The model of this internal combustion engine is BYD472QC, and it delivers up to 74 kW (99 hp). Under the hood, it also has a permanent magnet synchronous motor that puts out 120 kW (161 hp). Among the revealed details, it appears that the top speed is 180 kmph. Two different lithium-ion battery packs are offered for this electrified sedan.

Two different LFP battery packs are 16.2 kWh and 24.2 kWh, giving the 107 km and 160 km ranges on CLTC conditions, respectively. The real-world range is still unknown; it will vary depending on driving style, weather conditions, and other factors. When the battery charge depletes, it gives a mileage of 3.6 litres to 3.7 litres for each 100 km of driving.

Seeing from the front, a LiDAR on the roof is clearly visible. It is also a clear hint towards the availability of the DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) advanced driving assistant system suite, enabling navigation autopilot for city driving and highway cruising. The officially released image also revealed integrated headlights, a closed-off grille, and side air curtains.

Other than that, what we get to see on its exterior are the flared wheel arches and an A-pillar-mounted outside rear view mirror that also houses slim indicators and pull-type door handles. At the rear, this plug-in hybrid electric vehicle also has a full-width LED taillight, a BYD logo on the tailgate, and a bumper-integrated slim reflector.
