2027 Subaru Getaway EV Unveiled: Subaru’s Largest EV Heads for US Launch with 480 HP

The 2027 Subaru Getaway EV, a three-row all-electric SUV designed for family needs, has been unveiled for the United States market at the 2026 New York International Auto Show. It is the most spacious electric vehicle from the brand, which comes with advanced, high-tech, and smart features.

It is based on Toyota’s Highlander EV, whose launch is all set for late 2026 in multiple variants whose price will range from $55,000 to $62,000. It will rival the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo EX90; its United States debut has revealed all its specifications and features, and the same are discussed below.

Interior & Features

The interior of the Getaway EV has a horizontal dashboard design that gives it a premium and clean look, a flat floor provides better legroom, and an airy cabin increases comfort for long drives. It features seating layouts of 6 people and 7 people with a 2-3-2 layout with a bench seat and a 2-2-2 with a captain’s seat.

All occupants get a heated seat, but the ventilated seats are available for the first two rows. The boot space is 16 cu ft, which can carry 4 big pieces of luggage easily, and cargo space can be extended to 45 cu ft by folding down the rear seats. It gets a 12.3-inch digital driver display and 14-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

It has USB-C ports in all three rows and dual wireless chargers in front. The top trim is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, Harman Kardon sound system, heated steering wheel, and seat memory function. It also gets some features that are a digital key, a foot-activated tailgate, and power seats, which are adjustable in 8 ways.

Exterior & Design

The front fascia features clean and modern EV styling with a closed-off grille, an illuminated Subaru logo, and sharp LED headlights and unique DRLs. At the side, it gets a strong shoulder line that adds a muscular look, roof rails for luggage, camping gear, and it runs on 19-20 inch alloy wheels, which improves aerodynamics.

It comes with a full-width LED light bar, gets illuminated “SUBARU” lettering on the tailgate, and features a clean tailgate with a wide stance to give it a premium look. It is available with multiple color options that are Pacific Pine Metallic, Night Dive Blue Silica, Smoked Carbon, Cosmic White Pearl, Supernova Mica, and Astro Black Mica.

Its dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 5050 mm, 1989 mm, and 1709 mm, giving it strong road presence, ensuring better shoulder room and stability, and making entry and exit easier. The wheelbase of 3050 mm is long and gives better ride comfort, and ground clearance of 210 mm handles bad roads, speed breakers, and light off-roading.

Powertrain & Performance

The 2027 Subaru Getaway EV is equipped with two motors, one of them is equipped with front wheels and the other with rear wheels, featuring an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain, and the transmission is single-speed automatic. The power output is 480 hp, which provides better grip, stability, and control.

The acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h is under 5 seconds, and top speed is yet to be revealed but is likely to be around 180 km/h. It features a 95.8 kWh lithium-ion battery whose real-world range is 480 km on a full charge; it supports a DC charger up to 150 kW, which charges from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

A variant with a 75 kWh battery pack is also in queue to be introduced for the United States market, but it is likely that its launch will happen in 2027 with lower pricing. The range of which is expected to be around 400 km with a top speed of around 150-160 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration timing of 7-8 seconds.
