Volkswagen ID Aura T6 To Debut April 24: Smart AI Cockpit And Advanced ADAS Confirmed

The Volkswagen ID Aura T6, a mid-size all-electric crossover, is all set to be launched in China on April 24, 2026, with its debut in the Beijing Auto Show 2026. It is based on China’s electronic architecture, and pre-sale is likely to start shortly after its debut, and then within a few weeks the delivery will begin.

The FAW-Volkswagen’s upcoming mid-size crossover EV features blend German engineering and Chinese technology with collaboration. Nothing about its price is disclosed, but reports say that its standard variant will be available with a price of ¥220,000 and top trim with ¥300,000.

Before its debut, the Chinese-German joint venture revealed it in a live event and gave many details about it. They also have released some images officially, which are highly camouflaged, but they reveal many details about its exterior. Here, we have discussed what we know so far.

Likely To Be 5 Metres Long

At the reveal ceremony, the Volkswagen ID Aura T6 was standing between its siblings ID Unyx 08 and ID Era 9X, so it is assumed that it will be around 5 metres long with three rows and a seating capacity of 6 people in a layout of 2-2-2. As it is likely to be quite a long EV, we can expect a spacious cabin with ample legroom and also a decent cargo space.

The actual dimensions for the all-electric mid-size crossover will be revealed with the launch, and then we will get to know its actual length, width, height, wheelbase, ground clearance, boot space, seating capacity and cargo space of the Volkswagen ID. Aura T6. Reports suggest that the wheelbase may be around 3 metres and the width around 1.6 metres.

Multi-colour Ambient Lighting Expected

The interior of the ID Aura T6 from FAW-VW will feature an AI-powered smart cockpit. It is all set to get a large-screen infotainment system with a better user interface and smart operating system. There will also be a digital instrument which shows the driver data, reports saying that it may also include a passenger-side display.

For connectivity, it includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and USB ports. The ambient lighting is likely to be available with multiple colour options and will also feature multi-zone climate control, ventilated and powered seats with a massage function, a premium sound system for theatre-like audio and multiple wireless charging pads.

For smart, safe and convenient driving, it gets an Advanced Driver Assistance System with LiDAR, includes multiple sensors and cameras, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, highway autonomous driving and smart parking assist, and others. It also gets multiple airbags that play an important role in saving life in case of an unfortunate collision.

The Exterior Is A Mix of SUV And MPV

The images that FAW-Volkswagen has released officially for the upcoming ID Aura T6 clearly show that it’s a blend of sport-utility and multi-purpose vehicle. The illuminated Volkswagen badge is available at both ends, front and rear, and it features a split headlight setup which gives it a modern look and improves visibility during the nighttime.

On the sides, it gets a semi-hidden door for better aerodynamics, which improves efficiency. Its wheel arches are sculpted, featuring a muscular stance. Instead of digital mirror glass, it gets conventional ORVMs. There’s also a roof rail to ensure convenience. It gets Y-shaped double-tone alloy wheels, whose size may be around 18-19 inches.

May Get an 85 kWh LPF Battery

The FAW-Volkswagen is all set to introduce the ID Aura T6 with two drivetrains: AWD and FWD, but will feature single-speed automatic transmission. Reports say that it may get an 85 kWh LPF battery, whose CLTC range is expected to be around 620 km.

As it is certain that its electrical architecture will be 800-volt, it is likely to support DC chargers up to 275 kW, which may charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% within 25 minutes. It will also support standard home charging of 11 kW, which generally takes overnight for a full charge.
