Kia To Launch 3 Electrified Vehicles In India: Affordable EV To Premium Hybrid MPV Incoming

The Kia CEO Investor Day took place on April 9, 2026, where the automaker announced that they are planning to expand the line-up to 10 models; out of them, 8 are going to be electrified. They are most likely to be globally introduced by 2030; among them, Syros EV, Sorento Hybrid and Carnival Hybrid are those which will be introduced in India.

Kai Motors is likely to launch the Syros EV in the Indian market by late 2026 with an ex-showroom price range from ₹14 lakh to ₹20 lakh; the Sorento Hybrid may be introduced somewhere in 2027 with a starting ex-showroom cost of ₹30 lakh; and the Carnival Hybrid’s launch may happen in late 2027 or early 2028, whose ex-showroom price is likely to be above ₹60 lakh.

Kia Syros EV – 5-Seater Compact SUV

The Syros EV from Kia Motors will be positioned below its sibling, Carens Clavis EV, making it the most affordable electric vehicle from the brand. Its exterior and interior are highly expected to be the same as its ICE variant’s but with a few cosmetic changes. It is based on the K1 platform, the same which is used in Inster EV from Hyundai Motors.

It is expected to come with two battery packs, 42 kWh and 49 kWh, whose WLTC range is 300 km and 355 km, respectively. It comes with two 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and a digital instrument cluster. It will feature premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charging pad, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Kia Sorento Hybrid – Mid-Size 3-Row SUV

Globally, the Sorento Hybrid from Kia Motors is available with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. For the Indian market, it will be introduced with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a single motor that will be mounted with the front axles, featuring a front-wheel drive drivetrain. It will also feature a small battery, and the transmission is going to be a six-speed automatic.

Its front seats will be ventilated to keep the driver and front-seating passenger cool during the hot weather, good for Indian summer. The cabin is set to feature two 12.3-inch screens; one has the driver’s display and the other is an infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features. Also get a head-up display and multi-zone climate control.

Kia Carnival Hybrid – 7 / 8 Seater MPV

In the India market, the Carnival Hybrid from Kia Motors will come with the same powertrain and performance that is offered globally. It is set to get a 1.6L turbo petrol, a 72 hp electric motor that is mounted with the front wheels, and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery. Its power output is 242 hp and torque is 367 Nm; the acceleration timing is 0-100 km/h, and top speed goes up to 190 km/h.

It will also feature two touch screens, each of 12.3 inches. The infotainment supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also includes a BOSE premium sound system, electric sliding doors and powered tailgate, ventilated seats and 2nd-row captain seats. For safety, it includes Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and multiple airbags.

In the Indian market, the competitors of the Kai Syros EV are the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windor EV; the Kia Sorento Hybrid will compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO, and the rival of the Kia Carnival Hybrid will be the MG M9.
