JSW-Chery To Launch 5 SUVs In India: 3 EVs & 2 PHEVs With Competitive Pricing & Global Specs

Chery Automobile has collaborated with JSW Motor to launch NEVs, i.e., new energy vehicles, including electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, in the Indian market. They are going to launch five vehicles in India; out of them, three will be EVs: the Chery iCar V23, the Chery QQ3 and the Jaecoo J5, and two will be PHEVs: the Jaecoo J7 and the Jetour T2.

The JWS is all set to manufacture all the EVs and PHEVs that the Chery has introduced in China. In the Indian market, all the NEVs will be introduced with the same price range which is available in the Chinese market. They are going to give tough competition to their rivals; its launch date, ex-showroom price, and specifications are discussed here.

Chery iCar V23

Chery iCar V23

The Chery iCar V23, a compact SUV under the banner of JSW, may make its debut in the Indian market with the ex-showroom price of ₹14 lakh to ₹18 lakh. In the Chinese market, it is available in three battery packs which are 47.28 kWh LPF, 59.93 kWh LPF, and 81.76 kWh NMC, giving the WLTC range of 301 km, 401 km, and 501 km, respectively.

It is available in two drivetrains; the first one is RWD, featuring a single motor mounted on the rear axle, and the second is AWD, having one motor on the front axle and one on the rear axle. The RWD variant generates the power of 136 hp and torque of 180 Nm, and AWD generates 211 hp power and 292 Nm torque.

Jaecoo J5

The JSW is expected to launch the Jaecoo J5, a subcompact crossover SUV, in India in late 2027. Firstly, it was introduced in Indonesia, where it is available with the starting price of Rp 249,900,000; it translates to ₹13.15 lakh in India. Its launch in the Indian market may happen with the same pricing, the expected initial ex-showroom price being ₹14 lakh.

In Indonesia, it is available with a 60.9 kWh LPF battery whose NEDC range is 461 km. It comes with a single motor that is mounted with the front axle, featuring a rear-wheel drive configuration; it generates the power of 211 hp and torque of 288 Nm. The top speed is 174 km/h, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km takes only 7.3 seconds.

The JSW will introduce the Chery QQ3 in the Indian market in 2028. In China, it is available with prices of ¥58,900 and ¥78,900, so it is expected that in India, it will cost ex-showroom ₹10 lakh to ₹12 lakh. In China, it is offered with two battery packs, 29.48 kWh LFP and 41.28 kWh LFP, giving a CLTC range of 310 km and 420 km, respectively.

It is available with a single drivetrain, RWD, featuring a one-motor setup with a rear axle. With a 29.48 kWh battery pack, it generates the power of 78 hp and torque of 90 Nm; and a 41.28 kWh battery pack’s power output is 121 hp and peak torque is 115 Nm. The top speed for both battery packs is 125 km. 

Jaecoo J7

JSW is to launch the Jaecoo J7, a crossover SUV, sometime in 2027. In the Chinese market it is available with the price of ¥129,900, equivalent to ₹17.71 lakh, but in Indonesia it was introduced with the price of RM 158,800, which translates to ₹30.65 lakh, with reports saying that in the Indian market it may be available with the starting ex-showroom price of ₹35 lakh.

Internationally, it is available with the 5th-generation 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine, which generates the power of 141 bhp and torque of 215 Nm. It features a 18.32 kWh LPF battery whose range is 106 km on the NEDC cycle. It can accelerate from 0-100 km in 7.9 seconds and reach the top speed of 180 km/h.

Jetour T2

Jetour T2

The JSW will launch the Jetour T2 in Diwali 2026. In the Chinese market, it is available with the price of ¥152,900 to ¥199,900, which translates to ₹18.1 lakh to 23.7 lakh. In the Indian market, its ex-showroom price is expected to be between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh. The actual price for India will be announced near the launch of the vehicle.

In the Chinese market, it is powered by a fifth-generation 1.5-litre TGDI turbo-petrol hybrid-specific engine, whose power output is 156 hp and peak torque is 220 Nm. It comes with RWD and AWD trims, which generate power/torque of 381 hp/610 Nm and 610 hp/920 Nm, respectively.
