The Chinese automaker, BYD, has officially unveiled the new Sealion 05 by releasing the images. It will make its debut in the domestic market in two variants, EV and DM-i, on April 20, 2026, whose prices are expected to be between ¥96,000 and ¥126,000 and ¥120,000 and ¥140,000, respectively.
It is a five-seater car with a layout of two and three. The dimensions in length are 4,620 mm, width is 1,860 mm, height is 1,630 mm and wheelbase is 2,770 mm. These measurements ensure that each individual inside the cabin gets a comfortable seating position even for long distances.
The actual price for the compact crossover SUV’s two variants will be made public with the launch. Shortly after the launch the pre-sale will start, and within a month of that the delivery will commence. The new Sealion 05 will compete with Leapmotor C10, Haval H6 and Geely Galaxy L7.
Gets Roof-Mounted LiDAR
The front fascia of the new Sealion 05 comes with a closed-off grill, giving it EV styling. Headlights are slim, featuring a sharp and futuristic expression. The daylight running lights enhance the brand identity as well as road presence, and there’s a LiDAR sensor on the roof that works with ADAS.
In profile, it features smooth body lines that not only improve aerodynamics but also efficiency. The doors to enter the cabin get semi-flush-type handles which reduce drag and give a premium feel. The shoulder line is quite strong, and it adds muscular character, and those that are equipped are alloy and stylish.

There are connected LED taillights at the back giving a modern signature; the tailgate design is quite minimalist to give a premium and futuristic feel. The spoilers are integrated with the body, and it improves aerodynamics and also gives a sporty appearance, and the simple bumper layout keeps its design layout elegant.
Features Wireless Charging Pad
The cabin gets a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen for occupant infotainment; basically, it is a central hub for navigation, media, and vehicle controls, and there’s also a driver display of 8.8 inches that shows all driving data, with connected car technology and a smart user interface system.

For the comfort and convenience of occupants, the cabin comes with a 50W wireless pad for phones’ charging, a panoramic sunroof for an airy and spacious feel, multi-colour ambient lighting for aesthetics, two cup holders for ease, and power-adjustable front seats with both heating and ventilation functions.
The rear seats are completely flat and foldable, which can be turned into a bed. The outgoing model has almost no button, but it is retained in the new one for better practicality. The multiple USB ports, 360° camera system, PM2.5 air filtration system, DiPilot ADAS, and 463 litres of boot space are also notable.

Comes With Blade 2.0 Battery
The EV variant comes with a single motor that is mounted with the rear axle, featuring an RWD drivetrain, and its transmission is single-speed automatic. It will be available in two trims, i.e., two battery packs whose power outputs are 268 hp and 322 hp, whose CLTC range may be between 500 km and 600 km.
And the DM-i variant is all set to get a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, whose power outputs are 99 hp and 161 hp, respectively. It will be offered in two Blade 2.0 battery packs, 26.6 kWh and 34.275 kWh, whose only electric CLTC range is 220 km and 350 km, respectively.
The EV and DM-i both support ultra-fast charging, which takes only 5 minutes for 10 to 70 per cent charging and 9 minutes for up to 97 per cent charging. Even in the very cold conditions, such as -30°, it takes 8 minutes and 12 minutes for charging instead of 5 minutes and 9 minutes, respectively.
