The pure-petrol hatchback Leapmotor A05 is available for sale in the Chinese market from August 11, 2026, in a total of five variants. Previously, we reported that the carmaker would launch the model on August 10, 2026, but they delayed it by one day because of Typhoon Dolphin that hit Zhejiang province, where Leapmotor is headquartered.
Five variants are 405 Comfort, 405 Premium, 510 Premium, 510 LiDAR, and 510S with the price of 63,900 yuan (95,850 USD), 67,900 yuan (101,850 USD), 75,900 yuan (113,850 USD), 85,900 yuan (128,850 USD), and 90,900 yuan (136,350 USD), respectively. With these prices, it is set to give tough competition to the Geely EX2.
They started the blind pre-order on July 27, 2026, and 16 days after that, its market launch took place. Its dimensions of this all-electric hatchback are 4,200 mm, 1,800 mm, and 1,560 mm in terms of length, width, and height, respectively. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axle, is 2,605 mm, 45 mm shorter than EX2. Its turning radius is 4.9 meters.
Its front axle is mounted with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is mated with a single-speed automatic transmission. The power output is 70 kW (94 hp) and 90 kW (122 hp) for the variant equipped with a 39.8 kWh LFP and a 53 kWh LFP battery pack, respectively.
The standard and larger battery pack supports air-cooling and liquid-cooling, respectively, to ensure safety. On the CLTC condition, the first two variants deliver a range of 405 km, and the last three run up to 510 km. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 11 seconds for 405 variants and 10.5 seconds for 510 trims. The top speed for all is 160 km/h.
The variants equipped with the larger battery pack support a 2.5 c DC charger, which takes 16 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging. Features an independent MacPherson strut as front suspension and a semi-independent torsion beam as rear. The front and rear wheels are ventilated disc and solid disc, also featuring electric power steering and an electronic parking brake.
On the exterior, it gets integrated headlights, including daylight running lights and main headlamps; a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor; five-spoke double-toned alloy wheels; front-door-integrated outside rear-view mirrors; smiley-face LED headlights on the edges; and a roof-integrated spoiler with a braking light.

Available with two wheel size options, which are 16-inch and 17-inch, and features a boot space of 474 liters, which is expandable up to 1,308 liters. They have introduced the model with eight different color options, which are Black, Frost Mist Beige, Morgan Pink, Metallic Black, Tundra Grey, Pine-Mist Grey, Seaweed Green, and Berry Blue.

Its cabin gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster under the two-spoke D-shape steering wheel showing all driving data, and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard, which runs on Leapmotor’s intelligent cockpit system powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295.

The centrally mounted screen has a large-language model-based voice interaction with natural voice commands. It also supports over-the-air software updates. The infotainment screen is integrated with a 12-speaker sound system with the 7.1-channel system to ensure an immersive audio experience.
Other notable features are 33 storage compartments and a two-level boot with 91-liter under-floor storage to enhance practicality. Ambient lighting enhances the nighttime driving experience, heated and ventilated front seats with flat-folding to turn them to a bed, rear passenger tables for eating and working, and multiple USB charging ports.
