BYD's Denza Z All-Electric Convertible Revealed: 1000+ HP Supercar Heads to UK First

The sub-brand of BYD, Denza, has revealed the Z, an all-electric two-door convertible, at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. The launch, firstly, will happen for the UK market in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026; later, it will be introduced to China and others.

It was first introduced at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show as a concept, and now after the wait of almost a year, its production model is showcased. In terms of looks, it is a proper futuristic electric supercar. The person behind its design is Wolfgang Egger, former Audi design chief.

Denza is all set to introduce Z in three variants, which are hardtop, convertible, and track edition. The one showcased at the show is convertible, which comes with a seating capacity of 4 people. It features a steer-by-wire system and DiSus-M suspension.

Price Expectation

Nothing related to Z’s pricing is revealed. The Denza may be introduced in the United Kingdom with a price between €100,000 and €150,000 (¥800,000 to ¥1,200,000). In the China market, it will be available at the lowest price, maybe around ¥300,000 to ¥500,000 (€38,000 to €63,000).

How’s its design?

The Z’s front is clean but full of aerodynamics. It features sharp and sleek headlights which reflect the inspiration of supercars. It gets a low-slung nose with large air intakes to improve flow and cooling and features hood air ducts to generate downforce at high speed.

From the side, the vehicle looks like a proper electric grand tourer. Comes with a large door with flush-type handles and a frameless window to add a premium feel and improve efficiency. Equipped with large wheels that are made of alloy, which provides better road grip.

The rear look features sportiness and maturity. Its taillight is in a diamond shape which reflects unique signature lighting. It features a wide stance and wide shoulders to add a planted look and also gets a subtle diffuser to maintain aerodynamic function.

Interior Highlights

The Z is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel that shows all the driving data and comes with a square-shaped floating infotainment system at the centre that acts as a control panel. For practicality, the physical buttons are available for drive modes, climate, and quick settings.

The car’s cabin features a seating capacity of four people in a 2-2 layout, a wireless charging pad for phone charging with ease, and a foldable steering wheel to maximise the cabin space. The seats are made up of premium-quality material with soft touches in a sporty bucket style to ensure comfort.

What about its powertrain?

The Z, an all-electric SUV, is built on BYD’s e³ (Yi Sanfang) platform and is set to come with a three-motor setup, one on the front axle and two on the rear axle. With the all-wheel drive configuration, it is expected to get a two-speed automatic gearbox. Its combined power output is most likely to be above 1000 hp.

Reports say that the acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h is likely to be 2 seconds, and top speed is anticipated around 300 km/h. The automaker will reveal the battery packs with launch, but they can be around the 100 kWh Blade 2.0 battery with a range around 750 km. Likely to support BYD’s flash charger that takes 5 minutes for 10-70% charging.
