The Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s Dongfeng Forthing is all set to introduce the all-electric mid-size six-seater sport utility vehicle Xinghai V6 in the third quarter of 2026, as per the report. The MIIT filing has already revealed many of its specifications and features. This is going to be the first car that the brand has developed with the collaboration of the Chinese tech giant Huawei.
As a six-seater SUV, following the launch, it will compete with the Li Auto L8, AITO M7 and XPeng G9. We also found an official image in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology which reveals all about its exterior and design. The LED headlights in the shape of a ‘7’ give a modern look to the car; it also ensures better visibility during the night.
Up front, a large trapezoidal-shaped air intake is installed below for cooling of the battery. Seeing the sides, it is clearly visible that it gets mechanical door handles instead of flush types to ensure better practicality. It runs on the large alloy wheels that improve the road presence; filings show that it is available in different multi-spoke design options.

Like most of the NEVs (new energy vehicles) from the Dongfeng Forthing, it also gets full-width LED taillights that not only create a wide stance but also reflect the brand’s lighting signature, which makes it recognisable even from the back. A spoiler at the back is mounted with the roof that reduces drag, and the rear bumper features a layered design adding SUV character.
Its dimensions are also available in the public domain; notably, the car measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,755 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,910 mm; compared to the XPeng G9 and Li Auto L8, it is shorter by 88 mm and 95 mm, respectively, but 90 mm longer than the AITO M7. Its kerb weight is 1,810 kg, and it is set to be available with wheel size options that are 17-inch and 18-inch.
The seat is to be introduced with a seating capacity of 6 people in a layout of 2-2-2, meaning each row will feature two seats; notably, the second row is set to get caption seats that are designed to ensure better comfort. As its interior is yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it is tough to say when features the seats will have. Reportedly, the cabin is set to be equipped with a multiple-touch screen and smart features.

The MIIT filing has also revealed a few details about its powertrain and performance; it is set to get an electric motor ‘YY39TZ180S01’ from Inovance Automotive. It isn’t confirmed that it is bolted on the front axle or rear axle. If mounted on the front wheel, then it comes with an FWD drivetrain, and if mounted on the rear, then it features the AWD drive type. It is confirmed that it is using a single-speed automatic transmission.
The maximum power output is 135 kW. The battery pack, electrical architecture and other specifications are still pending. Expected to be offered with two different battery packs, one for the standard range and another for larger, so the user may choose depending on need. Electrical architecture may be 800-volt, so it may support an ultra-fast DC charger that takes a few minutes for adding a decent range.
