The Huawei and JAC Group, under Huawei’s HIMA ecosystem, developed a premium smart EV brand with the name of Maextro, which is also known as Zhijie and Luxeed. On May 18, 2026, the chairman and executive director of Huawei, Yu Chengdong, unveiled the ‘Maextro S800 Grand Design Collector’s Edition’ in the Far Mountain Cyan exterior colour that features dual-tone body paint in blue-green (lower body) and white (upper body) and a logo and badge in gold colour.
Reportedly, the Chinese EV brand will introduce it in the domestic market in June 2026. Notably, on May 9, 2026, it was found in the MIIT filing release, where it already revealed its specifications. Interestingly, the Grand Design Collector’s Edition of the Luxeed/Zhijie/Maextro S800 is dimensionally the same as the one that was introduced on May 30, 2025, whose price ranges from 708,000 to 1,018,000 CNY (99.7 lakh to 1.43 crore rupees).
Nothing about its pricing has been revealed officially, but a report from News18a.com English says that they may launch the car with the price around 2,000,000 CNY (2.81 crore rupees) for the top trim. It is 5,480 mm longer, 2,000 mm wider, and 1,536 mm taller. Its wheelbase is 3,370 mm; compared to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, it is 101 mm longer but 16 mm shorter than the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Both of these models are the main rivals of the S800.

The Grand Design Collector’s Edition will come to the Chinese market as an EV and EREV. They are yet to confirm if there are any changes in powertrain and performance. The EV comes with the double-motor setup, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel-drive drivetrain that uses single-speed automatic transmission. The combined power output is 390 kW, which helps the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 4.2 seconds. It gets a 95 kWh Huawei’s Whale Battery 2.0 pack, whose CLTC range is 702 km. Built on 800 volts and supporting fast charging, it can charge the EV from 10 to 80 per cent in just 12 minutes.
On the other hand, the EREV comes with both a double-motor setup, one on each axle, and a triple-motor setup, one on the front axle and two on the rear axle. Its drivetrain is also AWD, and even its transmission is single-speed automatic. The one with two motors has a maximum power output of 390 kW, but with the three-motor setup it is 635 kW. Both are equipped with Huawei’s 62 kWh Whale Battery 2.0 pack, whose pure-electric CLTC range for double-motor and triple-motor setups is 400 km and 365 km, respectively.

The combined range for EREV, i.e., when the battery is fully charged and even the fuel tank is full, the one with two motors runs up to 1,200 km and the three-motor one goes up to 1,333 km, on CLTC conditions. To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, the vehicle with a double-motor and triple-motor setup takes only 4.7 seconds and 4.9 seconds, respectively. The EREV is also built on 800-volt electrical architecture, and it supports 6C charging, which means the EREV supports very fast charging.
Not yet confirmed by the automakers, but the new edition coming this June 2026 is more likely to be introduced in China with both a seating capacity of 4 people in a layout of 2-2 and 5 people in a configuration of 2-3. May get Huawei ADS 5 with multiple LiDAR and sensors; the interior is expected to retain the Harmony ALPS 2.0 cockpit and 43-speaker premium sound system that has an output of 2,920W. More details about the new edition will emerge in due course, as the launch is slated for June 2026; the pre-sale may start in the next few days.
In terms of market competition, this strategic positioning ensures that while the Grand Design Collector’s Edition scales the peak of ultra-luxury, it also directly takes on the high-performance tech benchmarks set by the newly Updated 2026 Xiaomi SU7 line-up in the smart EV arena.
