BYD Seal 08 Flagship Sedan Revealed - 900 km EV Range & 510 kW AWD Power

BYD has released the official images for the upcoming flagship BYD Seal 08 sedan, which they will soon introduce to the domestic market as a battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle. The images the Chinese automaker has shared show the sedan in ‘Glacier Silver’, a colour that looks highly eye-catching. Also, its interior images are floating on the web, meaning both the exterior and interior of this car have been revealed officially.

Upfront, it gets a closed-off grille for EV styling and battery aerodynamics; “Ice Eye” LED headlights and wave DRLs giving the modern lighting signature; deep-sea “Starlight” air ducts for cooling; and roof-mounted LiDAR reflecting the sedan with an intelligent driving assistant. On the sides, it gets flush pop-out door handles that add premium and reduce drag, large multi-spoke turbine alloy wheels for better road grip, and body-coloured ORVMs for better side-view.

The rear of the sedan gets wave-shaped full-width LED taillights creating a wide stance; a large rear windscreen which is integrated with the panoramic glass makes its back profile eye-catching; a roof-integrated ducktail spoiler to manipulate airflow; and a minimalist black diffuser to manage the airflow underneath the vehicle. The overall design of the car is based on the Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 language. Reportedly, its length is 5,150 mm, its width is 1,999 mm, its height is 1,505 mm, and its wheelbase is 3,030 mm.

The carmaker hasn’t revealed the interior features, but the image of the interior that they made public has revealed what its cabin gets. The image shows that in the centre of the dashboard, there’s a large touchscreen infotainment system that will act as the control panel of the sedan; it supports DiLink for wireless connectivity, and the screen is in the image with the DiLink function.

It gets a three-spoke steering wheel with the BYD logo at the centre, and on the right-hand and left-hand sides, it has a few physical buttons for shortcuts. Under the same, there’s a digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data. Features the seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3; the front row gets two separate seats, and the second row comes with bench-like seats. Notably, all seats are made up of soft-touch premium materials.

Reportedly, both the EV and PHEV of the sedan are built on 800-volt electrical architecture. The EV is equipped with next-generation BYD’s Blade LFP battery, on one full charge, giving a range of 900 km on CLTC. It gets two electric motors, one on each axle; the maximum combined power output is 510 kW, which makes the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in 3.3 seconds.

Set to support BYD’s megawatt-level ultra-fast charging, meaning it will charge up to 97% in just 9 minutes. The Chinese automaker claims that the charging of just 5 minutes adds the 400 km range on the CLTC scale.

On the other hand, the PHEV is equipped with the 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine under the hood and also gets two electric motors. The combined power output is 400 kW. It comes with an LFP battery pack of 45.36 kWh, giving the only-electric CLTC range of 400 km; BYD claims the overall range is 1000 km on CLTC conditions, 100 km more than its pure-electric counterpart.

It comes with rear-wheel steering, which turns the rear wheel in the opposite direction of the front ones at the lower speed to ensure easier parking and better manoeuvrability in tight spaces; and at high speed, it turns the rear wheel in the same direction as the front wheel to ensure better stability; and the DiSus-A, an intelligent suspension system, which features adjustable ride height and adaptive damping for better comfort and handling.

The launch date isn’t yet set by BYD; many reports suggest that they may introduce it to the Chinese market in the second half of 2026. There are no words regarding its pricing; it may be around 200,000 to 350,000 yuan (28 lakh to 50 lakh rupees).
