Motor setup, battery pack, and charging details

Tata Sierra EV rear design

The rear-wheel drive variants get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle, which is mounted with a one-speed automatic transmission. With a 63 kWh battery pack, it generates the maximum power of 238 hp and peak torque of 315 Nm and can run up to 535 km under MIDC conditions.

But with the 75 kWh battery pack, it delivers 209 hp power, generates 315 Nm torque, and gives a 664 km range. On the other hand, the only quad-wheel-drive variant is equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack and gets a PMSM on the rear and an induction motor on the front axle, which generates 234 bhp and 340 Nm and 138 bhp and 164 Nm, respectively.

The combined power output is 313 hp, and peak torque is 504 Nm, which makes the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 5.8 seconds. When the battery pack is fully charged, it gives the MIDC-certified range of 624 km. Support up to a 120 kW DC charger, which is capable of adding the claimed range of 238 km and 263 km for standard and large battery packs, respectively, with 15 minutes of charging.

Reportedly, the variants equipped with a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery pack can charge themselves from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes. The AC charger doesn’t come as standard; for the complete setup of a 7.2 kW AC charger, an additional payment of ₹49,000 is required. Notably, it takes 8.9 hours and 10.5 hours for 10-90 percent charging with the 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs, respectively.
