Jetta, a sub-brand of Volkswagen, will soon introduce an electric sedan, the Jetta M6, in the Chinese market as a rival to the BYD Qin L EV, Geely Galaxy E5 sedan, Xpeng Mona M03, GAC Aion S Plus, Leapmotor B01 and Dongfeng Nissan N7. On July 10, 2026, the MIIT, People’s Republic of China, released a catalogue of vehicles which are set to make their debut in the country.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing has revealed almost all about this upcoming e-sedan from Volkswagen’s Jetta. The length is 4,806 mm with a wheelbase; the distance between the axles is 2,820 mm, and the height is 1,500 mm. Notably, two figures are mentioned for width; they are 1,868 mm and 1,895 mm. It indicates that they will introduce it with two size options.
Upfront, it gets sharp and angular headlights integrating daylight running lights with the main headlamp, giving a modern touch; a bumper-integrated active horizontal air intake for cooling the battery pack and motor; side air curtains to ensure smooth air drag over the wheels; a number plate holder just above the bumper; a sculpted bonnet to add aesthetics to the front view; and the Vetta logo just below the hood.
In profile, it has flared wheel arches giving the wider stance; double-tonne alloy wheels make the side view stunning; A-pillar-mounted electronically adjustable and foldable double-tonne outside rear-view mirrors with integrated blinkers; black-outed A, B and C pillars for a floating roof effect and dynamic look; and semi-flush-type door handles reduce drag and improve efficiency.
The rear boasts a through-type, full-width LED taillight at the tailgate with the JETTA lettering at the centre to create a wide stance; a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna reflects the vehicle is equipped with smart features; M6 lettering below the taillights on the right side shows the identity; black bumper cladding with a horizontal reflector makes the vehicle visible to other road users even when the taillights are turned off; and a large windscreen provides a clear rear view.

Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor from Hunan CRRC Times Electric on the front axle, which is mated with a single-speed automatic gearbox. The drivetrain is front-wheel-drive. Set to make its debut with two different lithium-ion NMC battery packs from China Aviation Lithium Battery, depending on which one, the electric motor generates the peak power of 113 kW and 145 kW, respectively.
The top speed is 166 km/h for the variant that comes with the standard electric motor and 172 km/h for the more powerful option. The kerb weight ranges from 1,557 to 1,628 kg. Equipped with BWI Group (MK C2)’s provided anti-locking braking system, which prevents the wheel from getting locked in case of sudden braking. The front and rear tracks are 1,625 mm and 1,620 mm, respectively.
Set to be available with alloy wheels in two size options that are 17 inch with 215/55 and 18 inch with 215/50. The manufacturer is yet to reveal the vehicle. Reportedly, they will unveil the model in August or September 2026, revealing the details. We are expecting that the pre-sale for the model will start a few days after the unveiling, and then a month after that the launch will happen.
As of now, there’s no update on price from the carmaker. Notably, the expected starting price for the model is 102,000 yuan, which translates to ₹14.36 lakh or 15,050 US dollars. It is certain that they will introduce the model in multiple variants, as MIIT filling have disclosed two different dimensions, peak power output, and top speed.
