China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s latest regulatory filing catalogue revealed that FAW-Volkswagen, a Chinese joint venture, will soon introduce a Volkswagen ID. The Aura T6, a mid-size all-electric sport utility vehicle, in the second half of 2026. It integrates Xpeng-backed intelligent driving technology, which is positioned between ID.4 and ID.6 in the brand’s EV lineup.

The length is 4,811 mm, the wheelbase is 2,836 mm, the width is 1,648 mm, and the height is 1,879 mm. Available with two wheel size options that are 19 inches and 20 inches. Features a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts with boot space behind the second row for luggage.

Built on FAW-Volkswagen with technology changing and co-developed alongside Xpeng, which supports both advanced Level 2 assisted driving and over-the-air software updates. Features an EGP electric motor from JEE Technology on the rear axle; as the e-motor is mated to the rear axle, it will feature a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. It generates the power of 170 kW (228 hp). Notably, its top speed is 186 km/h.

The e-motor is mated with the single-speed automatic transmission. Get lithium-ion battery packs from Gotion, although the capacity is still pending. Reportedly they will introduce two battery pack configurations. The kerb weight for the standard and long-range variants is 2,026 kg and 2,126 kg, respectively; the gross weight is 2,480 kg for the former one and the same for the latter, 2,580 kg.

Outside, it features a slim full-width LED daylight running light with a Volkswagen logo at the center, bumper-integrated headlamps in a square shape, lower active air intakes, a sculpted hood and bonnet, a roof-mounted Light Detection and Ranging sensor, a front-door-mounted outside rear-view mirror with integrated side indicators, roof-mounted rails, and flush-type door handles.

Other notable features on the exterior are flared wheel arches with black cladding for styling, blacked-out pillars for a floating roof effect, large alloy wheels, a black rear bumper, a horizontal reflector just above the bumper, a full-width LED taillight with Volkswagen at the center, a roof-integrated spoiler above the rear windshield, and ID. AURA lettering at the center of the tailgate.

The FAW-Volkswagen is yet to officially release the specifications and features for the Volkswagen ID. Aura T6. They are likely to do so in the next few weeks. Notably, the carmaker will start the pre-sale shortly after revealing a tentative price, and then the launch will take place with the actual price. The delivery will start shortly after the launch.

They have not confirmed its range; we are expecting that with the standard battery pack it will give a range of around 500 km, and the largest one is expected to run up to 600 km on CLTC conditions. Expected to feature 800-volt electrical architecture, which supports fast DC charging that adds a range of more than 200 km in full charge.

Inside, it will feature a digital instrument cluster under the multi-function steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard featuring turn-by-turn navigation. The centrally mounted screen will support multi-device connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and an AI-based voice assistant that will do touch-based things over the natural voice control.
