BYD Qin Max Breaks Cover: New Electric Sedan Sits Above Qin Plus and Qin L

Build Your Dream has officially previewed the BYD Qin Max, B-segment sedan, by releasing the official image of the vehicle. They are all set to launch in the domestic market with both plug-in hybrid electric and battery electric powertrains in the Chinese market. They haven’t confirmed any date for the launch, but there’s a high speculation that they will introduce the model in the third quarter of 2026.

The release of the official image from BYD has confirmed its styling; it is the same as the one unveiled via China’s MIIT filing. It has a full-width LED daylight running light in a U-shape with connected main headlights, bumper-integrated triangular air curtains, and lower air intakes for cooling of electronic components on the front end.

On the sides, it has semi-hidden door handles, black-out pillars, a dual-toned outside rear-view mirror integrated with blinkers, and large alloy wheels; and the rear boasts a full-width LED taillight with the BYD logo at the center for branding, a roof-mounted camera, and bumper-integrated reflectors in a horizontal shape.

The length, width, and height are 4,866 mm, 1,880 mm, and 1,495 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,820 mm. Available with a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts. Features 17-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 and 245/45 tires, respectively. Its curb weight ranges from 1,670 kg to 1,800 kg.

Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, featuring a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain for both BEV and PHEV. The battery electric vehicle is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle with a single-speed automatic transmission. The BEV will be available in two variants that are 120 kW (161 hp) and 240 kW (322 hp). Its top speed is 190 km/h.

Reportedly, it will get a BYD next-generation Blade lithium-ion battery from FinDreams Battery. May get either 52.87 kWh and 64.32 kWh, or both. With the standard battery pack, it may give a range of 530 km; for the larger one, the same is 630 km. All set to support ultra-fast DC charging, which takes only 5 minutes for 10 to 70 percent charging.
