The premium luxury SUV brand Wey, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor, is coming with a five-seater all-electric sport utility vehicle, V8X. Recently, we have spotted it in the China MIIT filling, which reveals its design and technical details. Any date for its lunch isn’t confirmed; the manufacturer is expected to introduce it in the H1 of 2026.
Notably, it is a small version of the Wey V9X, a plug-in hybrid electric SUV with a seating capacity of 5 people. As the GWM’s Wey V8X sits below it, we are expecting it to cost 299,800 yuan. Following the launch, it will compete with the rivals that are the Li Auto i8, the Nio ES8, the Onvo L90, the Aito M9 EV, and the Yangwang U8 EV.
The carmaker will introduce the model with an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. On the front axle, it features an induction motor, YS220QY234, from United Automotive Electronic Systems, and the rear axle gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor, QT70TZ220001, from Svolt, that is mated with a single-speed automatic transmission.
The power output is 220 kW (295 hp) and 320 kW (429 hp) for the front and rear motors; the combined power output is 540 kW (724 hp). The top speed is 220 kilometers per hour, and the 0 to 100 kmph acceleration timing is anticipated to be under 4 seconds. Most likely to come with two different lithium-ion battery packs; however, their capacity and the claimed range are still pending.

Set to make their debut in two different trims, dimensionally they are set to be different from one another. The first one measures 5,000 mm in terms of length and 1,808 in height, and the other is 5,040 mm and 1,823 mm in length and height, respectively. Their wheelbase is 2,968 mm, and width is 2,025 mm. Other dimensions are:
- Front overhang: 949 mm
- Rear overhang: 1,083 mm
- Seating capacity: 5
- Approach angle: 19°
- Departure angle: 23°
- Wheel options: 20-inch and 21-inch alloys
The 20-inch wheels get 255/50 tires, and for 21-inch, the options of 275/45 and 255/50 are both available. Outside, it has a full-width LED daylight running light below the hood; it is integrated with the main headlamp on the sides. Other notable features on the front end are the roof-mounted LIDAR sensor and active lower air intakes and side curtain.
If features included flared wheel arches, multiple-spoke alloy wheels, flush-type door handles, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirrors with integrated blinkers, and black-outed pillars on the sides, the rear would have a bumper-integrated reflector, a full-width LED taillight, a roof-integrated spoiler, WEY lettering on the tailgate, and a braking light on the upper section of the windshield.

Its pending specifications and all the features are set to be made public with an unveiling, which may take place in the next few weeks. Reportedly, the GMW’s Wey will unveil the model officially by releasing the image and details somewhere in the third quarter of 2026. As a five-seater, it will feature seating space for five people in an arrangement of two and three.
As its wheelbase is around 3 meters, all occupants will get ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room. Behind the second row, it will feature a large boot space that will help in carrying luggage. Inside, it is set to get a wireless phone charging pad, touchscreen infotainment system, and digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel.
Both front seats are expected to get ventilated, heated, and massage functions. Other notable features are automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, a multi-speaker premium sound system, premium leather upholstery for seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
