Aito, a Chinese EV brand formed under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance with Huawei and Seres Group, has made an announcement that they will launch the updated Aito M9 on May 27, 2026, for the domestic market via an event at Shenzhen. They started pre-sales for the full-size luxury SUV on March 5, 2026, in two variants: the standard one with 499,800 yuan (₹57.7 lakh) and the Ultimate extended version with 669,800 yuan (₹77.3 lakh).
On May 18, 2026, Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive director, shared on its Weibo account that since the state of pre-sale, the next-generation Aito M9 has received more than 50,000 orders. Notably, among all the orders, more than 40% of bookings happen for the top-end variant. The sale prices of both variants are highly expected to be lower than the ones with which the pre-order is taking place. Once launched, it will compete with the flagship SUV NIO ES9, whose launch is also slated for May 27, 2026.
Set to be introduced as both a fully electric and extended-range electric powertrain, the same as the outgoing model, both are built on 800-volt electrical architecture. It is yet to be seen if there will be any changes to its powertrain and performance.
Notably, the existing EV gets two electric motors, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel drive drivetrain. The front motor generates the maximum power of 160 kW and peak torque of 277 Nm; the rear’s peak power output and torque are 230 kW and 396 Nm, respectively. The combined power output is 390 kW, and peak torque is 673 Nm.

To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, it takes only 4.3 seconds, and it has a maximum speed of 210 kmph. It is equipped with a 100 kWh NMC battery pack whose CLTC range is 630 km. It supports a DC charger up to 290 kW, which takes only 20 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging in ideal conditions.
On the other hand, the existing EREV gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which works as a generator to power the battery. It also gets two electric motors, but the first one’s power output is 165 kW and peak torque is 315 Nm, and the rear generates peak 200 kW power and 360 Nm torque. Combined, it generates the maximum power of 365 kW and peak torque of 674 Nm.
To sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, it takes only 4.9 seconds. Its top speed goes up to 200 kmph. Equipped with the 52 kWh NMC battery, whose only-electric CLTC range is 290 km, the combined range ‘when the fuel tank of 65 litres is full and even the battery is fully charged’ is 1474 km. Supports a 60 kW DC charger, which takes only 30 minutes for 20 to 80 per cent charging. The NEDC-certified fuel efficiency is 6.3 litres per 100 km of driving.
Equipped with Huawei ADS 5.0 with 896-channel LiDAR, which makes the driving autonomous with the urban and highway navigation autopilot. Interestingly, it is equipped with the fully active suspension, which adjusts itself in real-time with the road scanning, ensures a better driving experience even in rough terrain, keeps it stable for high-speed driving, and improves stability.
The upcoming all-new Aito M9 is based on the HarmonyOS cockpit and Xiaoyi intelligent assistant; the carmaker is all set to introduce it with a seating capacity of 4, 5 and 6 people in layouts of 2-2, 2-3, and 2-2-2, respectively. The outgoing model measures 5,230 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, 1,800 mm in height and 3,110 mm in wheelbase. Various reports say that, in terms of size, the next generation is set to come with a bigger size.
