The Chinese carmaker NIO has announced via their Weibo on Wednesday that they will introduce the NIO ES9, a full-size luxury flagship SUV, to the domestic market on May 27, 2026, and delivery will start on the very same date. Drivers interested in owning the car can take the test drive starting from May 11, 2026.
Its pre-order are already underway since April 9, 2026, with the prices of ¥528,000 ($77,300), ¥588,000 ($86,100), and ¥658,000 ($96,300) for the Executive Luxury, Executive Signature, and Horizon Special Edition, respectively. The actual price is most likely less than the one for which pre-sale is happening.
The sale will also begin with the BaaS model, in which the buyer has to pay a lump-sum amount at the time of purchase, whose cost is cheaper than the original price, and then the owner has to pay a monthly fixed charge for the battery. Pricing for the same will also be announced with the launch of the vehicle.
Space & Dimensions

Features a seating capacity of 6 people in a layout of 2-2-2, which is quite similar to the Luxeed V9 EREV MPV. The cargo space for both seating layouts is 600 liters; by folding down the third-row seat, the space gets extended to 1,586 liters. It does have a frunk, or front trunk storage, whose capacity is 216 liters which provides ample space for smaller bags.
The dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 5,365 mm, 2,029 mm, and 1,870 mm, respectively; its wheelbase is 3,250 mm. The wheel sizes in diameter are 21-inch, 22-inch, and 23-inch for Executive Luxury, Executive Signature, and Horizon Special Edition, respectively.
Interior & Features

It gets zero-gravity captain seats that are made up of premium North American Angora calfskin in the second row; offers a longitudinal space of 2.3 meters. It also features a 42-point deep massage system and 20-point mechanical foot massage. Other notable features are a power-drawer refrigerator, executive tables, and a magnetic tea table.
Its cabin is equipped with a 15.6-inch AMOLED floating touchscreen at the center, which acts as the control panel of the cabin, and a 48-inch “Skyline” display across the dashboard. There’s also a 120-inch augmented reality head-up display, which projects the driving data on the windshield to help the driver keep an eye on the road and drive safely.
For the entertainment of second-row seating passengers, there’s a 14.5-inch 3K OLED screen on the back of each front seat. The entire cockpit runs on SkyOS that is powered by the Shenji NX9031 5 nm chip. It features NOMI Mate 3.0, an advanced AI-based voice command system, which controls all the touch-based functions over the voice.
Its interior is equipped with the 47-speaker “Lyra” audio system, which ensures the immersive sound experience inside the cabin with a total output of 3,020W. It gets LC smart dimming windows that make the window totally opaque to ensure the occupants’ privacy and active road noise cancellation, which ensures a quiet cabin experience up to a speed of 120 km/h.
Powertrain & Performance
The NIO ES9 is built on the NT 3.0 platform, whose electrical architecture is 900-volt, making it a direct competitor to high-tech sedans like the Zeekr 007. All its variants come with a double-motor setup, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel drive configuration whose transmission is single-speed automatic. They generate the power of 520 kW (front 180 kW + rear 340 kW), which enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and its top speed goes up to 220 km/h.
The battery pack for all variants is a 102 kWh ternary lithium unit. On a full charge, the Executive Luxury trim offers a CLTC range of 610 km, while the Executive Signature and Horizon Special Edition provide a range of 600 km. It supports a 600 kW DC charger, which adds 255 km of CLTC range within just 5 minutes of charging. It also comes with an 11kW Wallbox, which takes 8 hours and 40 minutes for a full charge.
