The BMW iX4, an all-electric coupe sport utility vehicle, is all set to make its global debut in fall 2026. Prior to that, this EV has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring, a motor racing circuit and vehicle testing facility located near Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The spy shots of the same are floating on the web; however, it is skin-tight camouflaged. Despite being covered with the black-and-white swirl-pattern camouflage wrap, it has revealed many details about its exterior.
The upcoming iX4 from BMW is set to feature a more stippled, coupe-like roofline than the existing iX3, giving this vehicle a sportier profile; Neue Klasse design that includes slim LED headlights; a next-generation kidney-shaped grille to give a modern front-end view; and 22-inch five-spoke newly designed alloy wheels to enhance its road presence. Other notable exterior features are A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, flush-type door handles, a full-width LED taillight, and a spoiler on the boot lip.
Reportedly, the market launch will happen in 2027, and its production is all set to begin at BMW’s Debrecen plant in Hungary. Many sources have already confirmed that it is set to borrow the motor setup and battery pack from the iX3. The first two variants that will be available for sale in the United States market are anticipated to be two different models; they are 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive. Following the launch, it is set to give tough competition to the Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron and Tesla Model Y.

Both the 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive will come with the xDrive all-wheel-drive drivetrain and a single-speed automatic transmission. They are set to get an induction motor on the front axle and an externally excited synchronous motor on the rear; the front one will act as secondary and the rear as primary. Reportedly, the 50 xDrive will get a 108.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the giving the WLTP range of 805 kilometers.
The combined power output is 463 hp (345 kW), and peak torque is 645 Nm, with acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h being 4.9 seconds and top speed being 210 km/h. Support DC charger up to 400 kW, which takes around 20 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging. Set to come with an 11 kW AC charger, which takes 8 hours and 15 minutes for a full charge. The option of 22 kW may also be available, which takes 4 hours 15 minutes.
The details regarding the 40 xDrive are still pending. Reports suggest that they will also introduce a variant with four electric motors, two on each axle. Dimensions are still pending; the length, width, and height are expected to measure 4,782 mm, 1,895 mm, and 1,635 mm. The wheelbase may be 2,897 mm, and ground clearance is anticipated to be around 180 mm, similar to the iX3, as it is structurally the same.

It will be available with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with a boot space of 520 liters that is set to be expandable up to 1,750 liters. A frunk (front storage tank) of 58 liters is also anticipated, which helps in carrying small items. Inside, it is set to have a BMW Panoramic Vision, a full-width display on the windshield showing driving data.
The center of the dashboard is expected to be equipped with a 17.9-inch free-cut touchscreen infotainment system, which runs on the BMW Operating System X. It will also support the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that will do touch-based things over the natural voice command, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for wireless connectivity, and over-the-air software updates to keep the infotainment system updated.
