Volkswagen has officially announced the price for the Volkswagen ID. Polo for the European market: They are set to start the pre-sale by late July 2026, and delivery will take place in November 2026 with the market launch. They have introduced four variants, which are Launch Edition (£23,945), Life (37 kWh) (£25,555), Life (52 kWh) (£28,830), and Style Launch Edition (£32,995).
It is a five-door electric hatchback, which is built on MEB+ architecture. Its main rivals are Renault 5 E-Tech, Kia EV2, Hyundai Ioniq 3, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq. The mode is available with two different lithium-ion battery packs, which are 37 kWh LFP and 52 kWh NMC. Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle with a one-speed automatic gearbox featuring a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain.
The power output of an electric motor with a standard battery pack is 85 kW (116 hp) and 99 kW (135 hp), and a large one is 155 kW (211 hp). The peak torque is 390 Nm. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 11.0 seconds and 9.8 seconds for the standard pack and 7.1 seconds for the large. The top speed for all is 160 km/h.
With the standard battery pack, it gives the WLTP range of 329 km, but the large one runs up to 454 km in the same condition. The standard and larger support DC chargers are up to 37 kWh and 52 kWh, which take 23 minutes and 24 minutes, respectively, for 10 to 80 percent charging, with maximum charging output.
Both battery pack variants come with the 11 kW AC charger. The 37 kWh variant takes 4 hours 15 minutes, and the 52 kWh only 5 hours 30 minutes for 0 to 100 percent charging. Dimensionally, it is 4,053 mm longer, 1,816 mm wider, and 1,530 mm taller. The wheelbase is 2,600 mm. Features seating for 5 people in a 2-3 layout with a boot space of 441 liters, which is expandable up to 1,243 liters. It has a drag coefficient of 0.264. 17- to 19-inch wheel options are available.
Outside, it has full-width slim LED headlights with the VW logo, lower horizontal air intakes, and side air curtains at the front end; flared wheel arches, a mechanical handle for the front door, C-pillar integrated handles for the rear door, front-door-mounted ORVMs with blinkers, and five-spoke alloy wheels at the sides; and a roof-mounted shark fin, a roof-integrated spoiler with a braking light, and a full-width taillamp with the VW logo at the rear.
Features a three-spoke steering wheel, which has a 10-inch Digital Cockpit instrument cluster showing all the driving data. At the center of the dashboard, it has a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for video and audio streaming, over-the-air software updates for connected car technology, and a voice assistant with ChatGPT integration.
Physical buttons are available for climate and volume control. Other notable standard features are ambient interior lighting, a wireless phone charging pad, conventional window switches for each door, heated front seats and steering wheel, and multiple storage spaces throughout the cabin. The Harman Kardon premium sound system, panoramic glass roof, and massage front seats are available as optional.
The front and rear suspension are torsion beam axle and MacPherson strut, respectively. It also has electric power steering. All wheels will get sold with disc brakes and a one-box brake-by-wire system. Other braking-related features are electronic parking brake, one-pedal driving, anti-locking braking system, and electronic stability control.
