Dongfeng Forthing to Start Xinghai V6 Pre-Sales on August 8 With Huawei Qiankun ADS

Dongfeng Forthing, a passenger vehicle brand from the Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, has officially confirmed that the presale (pre-order) for the Dongfeng Forthing Xinghai V6, a midsize six-seat battery electric sport utility vehicle, will start on August 8, 2026, for the Chinese market. A month after that the market launch will take place, and then delivery will begin shortly after that.

Notably, it is the first Dongfeng Liuzhou-Huawei co-developed model, which is set to offer subscription-free Huawei Qiankun ADS, which offers city intelligent driving, highway cruising, parking assistance, and smart safety features. Dimensionally, its length is 4,835 mm, width is 1,900 mm, and height is 1,755 mm.

Its wheelbase measures 2,900 mm, and drag coefficient is 0.269. The carmaker is set to position this upcoming electric vehicle in the Chinese market as a midsize electric SUV and rival to the BYD Song L EV, Geely Galaxy E5, Leapmotor C10, Deepal S05 EV, and GAC Aion V. Notably, its price is still pending, which they announce with launch.

Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is expected to be on the front axle; notably, the electric motor is mated with a single-speed automatic reduction gearbox. Since the e-motor is anticipated to be available on the front axle, it will feature front-wheel drive. Our earlier report already confirmed that the electric motor generates the power of 135 kW (181 hp).

The electric motor it uses is sourced from Inovance Automotive, whose code is YY39TZ180S01. Notably, the carmaker is all set to introduce the model with two different lithium-ion batteries, whose capacities are still to be determined. Reports suggest that with the standard pack, it will run up to 400 km on the CLTC condition, and the same for the large one is 510 km.

As of now, it is still pending that it will be based on 400-volt or 800-volt electrical architecture. We are expecting it to be based on 800-volt supporting fast DC charging, which may add a decent range with just a charge under 15 minutes. The one equipped with the large battery pack takes less time to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h; the top speed for both are set to be similar.

Outside, it has integrated LED headlights in a 7-shape which include daylight running lights and main headlamps, a closed-off grille to enhance aerodynamics, active lower air intakes to keep the battery pack and motor cool, mechanical door handles for enhanced practicality, and front door-mounted outside rear-view mirrors with integrated blinkers to get a clear view of traffic below.

Other notable features are black-outed pillars creating a floating roof effect, side body cladding to enhance the side view, flared wheel arches for styling, bumper cladding with a horizontal reflector which makes the vehicle clearly visible to other road users even if the taillight is turned off, a full-width taillight creating a wide stance, and a roof-integrated spoiler with an integrated braking light.

It features a seating capacity of six people in a 2-2-2 layout, which has a decent boot space behind the third row that helps in carrying the luggage. Inside, it will feature a fully digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel showing all driving and a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard supporting over-the-air software updates and an AI-based voice assistant.

Its centre console is expected to get a wireless phone charging pad and cup holders. The driver’s and co-passenger’s seats are set to be ventilated and heated with leatherette upholstery. Other features its cabin may get are automatic climate control, powered windows, ambient lighting, USB charging ports, and a premium sound system.
