Mitsubishi ASX VR-e EV Revealed: Four Variants, 299kW AWD & 57.7kWh Battery

Mitsubishi, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, has confirmed that they will launch the Mitsubishi ASX VR-e, a battery electric sport utility vehicle, in Australia in the last quarter of 2026. They have confirmed that the model will make its debut in four variants, which are LS, Aspire, Exceed, and GSR.

They have made an announcement for the Australia launch with the release of one exterior and one interior image. The exterior image shows the front end and side view. Upfront, it has a full-width LED daylight running light with the brand’s logo at the center. The main headlamps are placed below the DRL strip on the edge, giving the futuristic look.

At the front end, it gets lower air intakes in mesh style whose center has a number plate holder. On the sides, we get to see double-toned alloy wheels, enhancing its road presence. Features wheel arches cladding for styling, flush-type handles for the door to reduce drag, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirrors, and black-outed pillars.

The cabin image shows a touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard, which seems to be 15.6 inches; a four-spoke steering wheel in D-shape with physical buttons and the Mitsubishi logo in the center. Under the steering wheel, it has a 9-inch fully digital instrument cluster showing driving data.

Notably, it is closely related to the Foxtron Bria, sold in Taiwan with a price between NT$899,000 and NT$1,149,000 (A$42,650 to A$54,507). The same price is anticipated for the Australian market. After the launch, it is set to take on the Jaecoo J5 EV, MG S5 EV, BYD Atto 3, and other EVs in the segment.

The one sold in Taiwan is a five-seater with a seating layout of 2-3, whose length, width, and height are 4,315 mm, 1,885 mm, and 1,535 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm and ground clearance of 155 mm. The same size for the upcoming ASX VR-e is expected.

The rebadged version of the Foxtron Bria has already been spotted testing on Australian roads; the spy shots of the same are floating on the web, and they show the vehicle wearing camouflage. The carmaker has yet to officially unveil the rear styling.

The spy shots show that at the back it has a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate, a roof-integrated spoiler, and a bumper-integrated reflector, similar to the Foxtron Bria. Meaning the ASX VR-e isn’t only identical from the front and side but also from the rear.

Mitsubishi is yet to reveal the powertrain details for the ASX VR-e. We are expecting to be introduced in Australia with the battery pack and motor setup, the same as in Taiwan. In Taiwan, it comes as a single-motor rear-wheel-drive and double-motor all-wheel-drive drivetrain.

The RWD delivers the power of 171 kW, which makes 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in 6.8 seconds, equipped with a 57.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack giving the NEDC range of 516 km.

On the other notable note, the AWD generates 299 kW of power; its 0 to 100 km/h sprinting time is 3.9 seconds, 3.2 seconds faster than the variant with a single motor. It gets the same battery pack as RWD but runs on 466 km, 50 km less, under the same condition. 

The RWD and AWD, both variants, support a DC charger up to 134 kW, which adds the range of 30 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging. 

The underpinning for the upcoming Mitsubishi EV is set to be the same as the Foxtron Bria; it will also be based on the Foxtron MIH, getting MacPherson struts as front and five-link independent as rear suspension. The RWD and AWD are set to be equipped with 18-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels, respectively, with solid discs.
