In a previous report, we talked about a seven-seater electric sport utility vehicle based on the Wuling Exion from JSW MG Motors India that will be launched on August 26, 2026, with the name Hector Hawk, speculated by many EV enthusiasts; the nameplate for the same is now officially unveiled. They are all set to introduce it as Hector Tomahawk.
The booking for the first Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology-based electric vehicle is taking place with an amount of 21,000 rupees via the dealership and on the brand’s official website. Indian drivers who are interested in buying may show interest by depositing the booking amount, which will be counted against the price.
Starting the booking, they also teased the upcoming seven-seater electric car, which indicates that its design is similar to the model already on sale in the Indonesian market. It is set to get the following:
- Twin LED daylight running lights with the horizontal-shaped LED headlamps.
- Silver skid plate on the front and rear bumpers.
- Black cladding on lower body and wheel arches.
- Double-toned alloy wheels.
- Pull-type handle for the side doors.
- Twin-element DRL-style LED taillight.
- Roof-integrated rear spoiler.
- Roof-mounted rails.
In terms of dimensions, it is highly anticipated to be the same as Wuling Eksion, which measures 4,745 mm longer, 1,850 mm taller, and 1,755 mm wider. The wheelbase of 2,810 mm is to be retained, and ground clearance is to be a little higher to make it Indian road condition friendly.
Set to feature 7 people seating capacity in a 2-3-2 layout, the boot space for the Indonesia-spec model is 1,788 liters; the same cargo capacity with folded seats is anticipated for India. The upcoming Hector Tomahawk under the banner of MG is highly anticipated for most of the features that are offered in the Wuling Eksion EV sales in Indonesia. They are
- Double-tone cabin theme with the walnut brown and carbon black.
- Soft-touch material and trims for the dashboard, window, and door.
- 50W wireless phone charging pad for phone charging convenience.
- Synthetic leather upholstery for all seven seats to enhance seating comfort.
- Ventilated co-passenger and driver seat.
- Electrically adjustable front seats, the co-passenger’s in 4 ways and the driver’s in 6 ways.
- Leather-wrapped, D-shaped, three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons.
- An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
- A 12.8-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment system OTA software update, AI-based voice assistant, and wireless smartphone connectivity.
- Dedicated air conditioning vents in each row may get dashboard-integrated in front, centrally mounted in the second, and roof-integrated in the third.
Besides these features, the cabin may also enhance practicality, conformity, and convenience for occupants. For safety purposes, multiple air bags are certain, but it is still undisclosed how many there will be. For the Indian-spec model, the Level 2 advanced driving assistant system is expected; it may only be available for the top-end trims.
There’s no official confirmation for its powertrain. Reports suggest that they will launch the MG Hector Tomahawk as a front-wheel-drive electric vehicle, getting a PMSM on the front axle generating 201 hp power and 310 Nm torque. These core specifications are similar to the Indonesian model, which takes under 8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph and reach a maximum speed of 160 kmph.
The Wuling Eksion is equipped with a 69.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving a CLTC range of 530 km. The same battery setup is anticipated for the Indian market, but the range on MIDC conditions is 600 km to give tough competition to the Mahindra XEV 9S, the only pure-electric seven-seater car in India to give this much range with a 70 kWh unit in the ₹25 lakh ex-showroom price segment.
