Two weeks after starting the flagship plug-in hybrid electric SUV Wey V8X presale, the Wey, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor, has launched the model in five variants with the starting promotional price of 226,800 yuan (34,020 USD). There are two main trims, which are Sport and Family; the former has two variants, including Max and Ultra, and the latter has a total of three, with an additional Ultra+.
The Max and Ultra of the Sport are available for sale with the promotional offer of 226,800 yuan (34,020 USD) and 266,800 yuan (40,020 USD), respectively, and the same for the Family’s Max is 246,800 yuan (37,020 USD), Ultra is 266,800 yuan (40,020 USD), and Ultra+ is 302,800 yuan (45,420 USD). Notably, once the promotional offer ends, the price will increase by 13,000 yuan (1,950 USD). The regular prices are as follows:
- Sport – Max: 239,800 yuan (35,970 USD), and Ultra: 279,800 yuan (41,970 USD).
- Family – Max: 259,800 yuan (38,970 USD), Ultra: 279,800 yuan (41,970 USD), and Ultra+: 315,800 yuan (47,370 USD).
Buyers who already have made a payment of 2,000 yuan (300 USD) during the pre-sale window can be counted towards the final sale price and will also get an additional discount of 3,000 yuan (450 USD). As announced in the pre-order, the carmaker has confirmed the booking amount will be counted as 5,000 yuan (650 USD) towards the final payment.
By launching the vehicle to the domestic market, the Wey also announced one more offer: any family in China who already owns GWM vehicles can get an additional discount of up to 3,000 yuan (450 USD) for each one with the maximum cap of 10,000 yuan (1,500 USD). Any family who owns up to four vehicles can avail themselves of the maximum benefit.
With the launch, all the specifications and features about this electrified SUV are made public. Dimensionally, the Sport trims are 5,040 mm longer with a 2,968 mm wheelbase, 1,808 mm to 1,823 mm taller, and 2,025 mm wide; but the length, width, and height of the Family variants are 5,125 mm with a 3,050 mm wheelbase, 2,025 mm, and 1,821 mm, respectively.


Notably, the Family trims have an 82 mm longer wheelbase, giving better legroom than the Sport for rear seating passengers. As a five-seater plug-in hybrid electric SUV, they get a boot space of 864 liters behind the second row that is expandable up to 2,225 liters. Its cabin is full of smart and high features; the key highlights are as follows:
- Two 15.6-inch screens, one before the co-passenger and the other at the center of the dashboard.
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the four-spoke steering wheel and also a 29-inch AR head-up display that projects the driving data on the windshield.
- A 17.3-inch roof-mounted rear entertainment screen.
- A 25-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos audio.
- A total of four, two in each row, 50W wireless charging pads for phone charging convenience.


Built on the GWM Super Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, getting two electric motors and featuring an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Under the hood, it gets either a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine, depending on the variant. The electric architecture of both Sport variants and the Family’s Max variant is 400 volts; they support a standard DC charger, which can charge 30 to 80 percent in 15 minutes, but the Ultra and Ultra+ variants of the Family trim are based on 800 volts, supporting 6C charging, which takes only 9 minutes for 20 to 80 percent charging and can add 170 km of pure-electric CLTC-range in 6 minutes.
