Smart #2 Interior Revealed: Dashboard, Screens and Cabin Features Detailed

Smart, a premium electric car brand jointly owned by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, will soon launch in China, Europe, and other markets. They are all set to unveil the model globally at the Paris Motor Show, October 2026. Prior to that, it had already appeared in the China MIIT filing catalogue’s August 2026 release, revealing its core specifications and all the exterior features.

Now, the China National Intellectual Property Administration has released its dashboard patent images, revealing what it gets inside the cabin. In the center of the dashboard, it is set to have a large touchscreen infotainment system; it may support wireless smartphone connectivity, an AI-based voice assistant with natural voice commands, and connected car technology with over-the-air software updates.

It will have four circular air conditioning vents, two on the sides and two just below the centrally mounted screen. A circular speaker is also on the dashboard. The patent image doesn’t show the steering wheel design and reveals that behind it, it will have a slim, horizontal-shaped instrument cluster with rounded corners, anticipated to be fully digital, showing driving-related information.

The dashboard’s column shows two flat areas hinting that it will have a wireless phone charging pad for phone charging convenience for the driver and co-passenger and also a 12-volt socket. Below the infotainment system and above AC vents, it will have a block of physical buttons for control and setting. Before the co-passenger seat, it has a large glovebox with hooks for easy access.
