The GAC Aion, a brand of GAC Group that makes electric vehicles, will unveil the Ray 7, an all-electric fastback sedan, on August 19, 2026, by organizing an event, which will begin around evening. Sharing on Weibo, Zhang Xiong, president of the GAC Hyptec and Aion business units, has formally confirmed the global debut date.
The Ray 7 is set to be the first vehicle under the Ray series with the banner of GAC Aion. The upcoming pure-electric sedan has already appeared in the China MIIT filing catalog release, revealing the core specifications and features, but they haven’t yet revealed it officially; at the event, for the first time, they will show the model to the public.
Presale will start with the debut?
As of now, there’s no confirmation regarding the beginning of preorders for the Ray 7. Many reports are suggesting that it is most likely that they will start the pre-sale, announcing the price. Interested buyers in China will be able to exercise it to show interest in buying; those who will book may get additional benefits and delivery preference.
Many Chinese automobile manufacturers start taking orders upon unveiling, and a few begin a few days after showcasing. Notably, the market launch is slated for September 2026, and in China, the presale generally begins within a month, so we are expecting that on August 19, 2026, they will start booking online and also via in-person visit at the dealership.
Exterior design revealed
At the front, it has a full-width double-layer LED daylight running light. The slim LED headlamps are placed below the DRL strips on the sides. The Aion logo is present at the center of the DRLs. Other notable features of its front-end are horizontal lower air intakes, vertical air curtains, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.

Its sides have double-toned alloy wheels with five spoke patterns. The outside rear-view mirrors are placed on the tailgate to reflect branding; they also integrate slim horizontal blinkers. The doors get a semi-hidden flush-type door, enhancing aerodynamics, and the wheel arches are pronounced for styling. Black-out A, B, and C pillars give it a floating roof effect and dynamic in-profile view.

At the back, it has a camera at the meeting place of the roof and rear windshield. Horizontal LED taillights are placed on the tailgate, enhancing nighttime visibility on the road for other road users. On the edges it gets sharp, through-type LED taillamps that connect with the tailgate and create a wide stance. The diffuser-style bumper has a horizontal-shaped reflector.
Core specifications disclosed

The length, width, and height are 4,960 mm, 1,900 mm, and 1,455 mm, respectively. Huawei manufactured a permanent magnet synchronous motor that is mounted on its rear axle, which is mated with a one-speed automatic gearbox to move the wheels. The PMSM can deliver the maximum power of 180 kW (241 hp).
Reports confirm that it will come with two different lithium-ion battery packs; one of them is sourced from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, and another from Yinpai Battery; however, the capacity for both is undisclosed. Two wheel size options are set to be available; they are 17-inch and 19-inch. The top speed is 180 km/h, and acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is still pending. Its kerb weight ranges from 1730 kg to 1755 kg.
