On August 21, 2026, the launch of the Stelato G9, a luxury off-road SUV, happened with two different seating configurations: a five-seater in a 2-3 layout and a six-seater in a 2-2-2 arrangement. Even the launch took place with two different powertrains, which are battery-electric and extended-range electric. Mainly three variants are available for sale that include Max+, Ultra and Ultra+.

The price starts from 429,800 yuan and goes up to 549,800 yuan. Depending on the powertrain, seating layout and variant, the price varies. You may check the price for each in yuan and USD from the image that we have shared below.

The carmaker launched the model at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, showcasing and revealing all the specifications and features. Its dimensions are 5,377 mm, 2,050 mm, and 1,897 mm in terms of length, width, and height, respectively. Its wheelbase measures 3,160 mm, 290 mm longer than Fangchengbao Bao 8, the closest rival.

Huawei, the tech company, and BAIC, the carmaker, from China have created the brand Stelato under the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance). The newly launched G9 electrified SUV as an EV is available with a double-motor setup, getting an electric motor on each axle; the core specifications of the same can be found in the table below.

DriveAWD
Front motor160 kW
Rear motor277 kW
Total output437 kW (586 hp)
Battery120 kWh ternary lithium
Electrical architecture800V
Range728 km CLTC
0–100 km/hUnder 5 seconds

The range of 728 km claimed by the carmaker is applicable for both Ultra and Ultra+ five-seaters. In the real world, the five-seater may give better energy efficiency than the six-seat variant because with more load capacity, the per kWh energy consumption decreases. Any actual figure for real-world range isn’t available in the public domain; for city driving it is anticipated to be around 630-650 km.

On the other hand, the EREV also gets two electric motors, the same as the EV, alongside a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol ICE that acts as a generator to power the electric motors when the battery pack is depleted. Its range and related information are shared inside the table below.

Engine output118 kW (158 hp)
Battery75.4 kWh
Electric-only range405 km CLTC
Combined range1,366 km CLTC
Top speed220 km/h

The electric-only claimed range is possible because of a 75.4 kWh lithium-ion battery that is mounted beneath the floor, but the actual driving range in the city and on the highway may vary from one another; it will also depend on your driving and usable air conditioning inside the cabin.

For clarity, the combined range is actually the car can run in ideal conditions when the fuel tank is full and even when the battery pack is fully charged. Once the battery pack depletes, it automatically switches to EREV mode, starting the ICE to power the battery and motor to move the wheels.

The exterior is totally rugged, but to ensure better aerodynamics, its overall view is uncluttered with hidden flush-type door handles, integrated LED headlights, front-door-mounted outside rear-view mirrors, circular tail lamps, a spare wheel on the tailgate, and large pie-shaped alloy wheels.

One of the notable exterior features is 896-line dual-optical-path LiDAR on the roof that is visible from the front end; part of Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 features space-to-space navigation for parking, navigation-assisted driving for highway cruising, and navigation cruise assist for city driving. It also has 2 solid-state LiDARs.

The six-seater has captain’s chairs in the middle, a family of six that includes husband and wife, two children, and a grandparent; instead, a five-seater for a family of five who look for a huge cargo space can be a great choice. The cabins of both are full, and tonnes of smart and high-tech features ensure better comfort for not only the driver and co-passenger but also rear-seating occupants.

The features that you will definitely find appealing inside its cabin are the triple-screen setup on the dashboard, enhancing the cabin’s aesthetic and high-tech look. Zero-gravity front seats add premium comfort; it also has massage, heating, and cooling functions, which will further enhance your experience of travelling with it.
