Tata Punch EV September 2026 Price Hike: 30 kWh and 40 kWh Variant Prices Compared

The Indian automobile manufacturer Tata.Cars have increased the ex-showroom price for this electric car by 20,000 rupees. The price hike varies depending on the variant. Let’s have a closer look.

Tata Punch EV Ex-showroom Price Hiked in September 2026.

In the Indian market, the Tata Punch EV is available for sale in a total of six variants. These variants are Smart 30, Smart Plus 30, Smart Plus 40, Adventure 40, Empowered 40, and Empowered Plus S 40. The price hike in September 2026 ranges from 10,000 rupees to 20,000 rupees. 

For the first two variants, which are equipped with a 30 kWh lithium-ion battery, the price is increased by 10,000 rupees; and for variants that come with a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, see the price hike of 20,000 rupees. Notably, the carmaker has increased the price to cover the increased production cost.

Tata.Cars isn’t only the Indian carmaker who has increased the ex-showroom price in India for their model; other companies also have done so, and their reason is also the same. This is the first time when they have increased the price for this model after its facelift launch in February 2026.

What’s the variant-wise new price for the Tata Punch EV?

The Smart 30 and Smart Plus 30 of Tata Punch EV have seen a price hike of 10,000 rupees. Earlier the first one was available for sale with the price of 9.69 lakh rupees, but now it costs 9.79 lakh rupees; similarly, the price for the former one was 10.29 lakh rupees, but now after the price hike, it’s 10.30 lakh rupees.

On the other hand, the Smart Plus 40, Adventure 40, Empowered 40, and Empowered Plus S 40 prices have seen an increase of 20,000. After the price hike, now the first one among them costs 11.19 lakh rupees; the second, third, and fourth ones have new prices of 11.94 lakh rupees, 12.69 lakh rupees, and 12.99 lakh rupees.

The price hike of 10,000 rupees for the standard-range variant and 20,000 for the long-range trim is most likely to affect the buyer who has made a plan to buy this electric car around the 2026 festive season. As the increase is too big, it is likely that the sale number will remain unaffected in the coming month.

Is there also a BaaS price increase for Tata Punch EV?

There are no such reports that claim a hike in the Battery-as-a-Service price, meaning the Tata Punch EV is still available with the starting price of 6.49 lakh rupees on the BaaS subscription model with the battery subscription plan of 2.60 rupees per kilometre. Notably, the BaaS price for different variants varies depending on the battery pack.

What’s the difference between the Tata Punch EV with a 30 kWh and a 40 kWh battery pack?

The Tata Punch EV get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle that is mated with the single-speed automatic transmission; the variants equipped with a 30 kWh lithium-ion battery pack generate 65 kW of power, but the same for the large one delivers 95 kW; the peak torque for both variants is 154 Nm. 

The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 kmph for the 30 kWh and 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack variants is 13.5 seconds and 9 seconds, respectively. The range for the standard is 375 km, making it ideal for daily city driving, and the same for the larger one, which is 468 km, enabling driving not only for the city but also for the highway.
