BYD's Off-Road Brand Fangchengbao Steps Into Sedans With New Filing

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, People’s Republic of China, released the most recent ‘Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcement’ catalogue on June 10, 2026, revealing that Build Your Dreams’ Fangchengbao will launch two new cars in the Chinese market under the mid-to-large pure electric sedan segment.

The MIIT filing reveals that the carmaker will launch the S with two RWD and one AWD drivetrain variants and the S GT with only AWD. The rear-wheel drive gets an electric motor using the single speed on the rear axle. The former one gets a TZ205QYS e-motor, which generates the peak power of 245 kW, and the latter features a TZ205QYD, delivering the output of 300 kW.

On the other hand, the all-wheel drive gets a YS230XYF e-motor on the front axle and a TZ205QYD on the rear axle, whose power outputs are 190 kW and 300 kW, respectively; combined, they generate the peak power of 490 kW. The top speed for both the S and S GT is 240 km/h, and acceleration timing for the latter is anticipated to be under 4 seconds.

Equipped with DiSus-M, BYD’s new magnetorheological suspension system, which not only improves ride comfort on rough roads but also reduces body roll when cornering and improves stability at high speed. It is the first time the brand is going to use it since its unveiling at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.

The upcoming two sedans from Fangchengbao are the BYD Fangchengbao S and the BYD Fangchengbao S GT; the former measures 5,060 mm and the latter measures 5,025 mm in length, but their width and height are 1,967 mm and 1,483 mm, respectively. Reportedly, the manufacturer will introduce it to the Chinese market by the third quarter of 2026.

Outside, the S gets teardrop-shaped LED headlights, roof-mounted LiDAR, a wide lower air intake, a coupe-like bonnet, flush-type door handles, large multi-spoke alloy wheels, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated side indicators, diamond-shaped LED taillights, a roof-integrated shark-fin rear spoiler, a diffuser-style rear bumper, and a minimalist tailgate.

The S GT is similar to the S, but it does have roof rails with a towing capability of 500 kg; the key difference between them is that the S has a sloping roofline, but the S GT has a longer and flatter roof. Both come with a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3; the S GT is the one which has large boot space behind the second row, thanks to its long length.

The wheelbase for both is 2,960 mm, and the kerb weight for the S and S GT is 2,140 kg and 2,170 kg, respectively. The interior is yet to be revealed; we expect that it will feature premium upholstery and soft trims on the dashboard. The cabin is set to get a touch screen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard.

Anticipated to get a three-spoke steering wheel, under which there’s a digital instrument cluster of 10.25″ certain to show all driving data. Reports also suggest that it will feature an augmented reality head-up display, which projects primary driving data on the windscreen so the driver won’t have to look below on the dashboard for any details.

The infotainment system is set to be integrated with a multiple-speaker premium sound system to enhance the experience; it will support wireless connectivity and also feature an AI-based voice assistant, connected car tech, and over-the-air software updates. Both fronts may be ventilated and heated and support massage functions.

In China, following the launch, the S will compete with the Xiaomi SU7, Nio ET7 and Zeekr 007, and the S GT will take on the Zeekr 007 GT and Avatr 06T. The price isn’t yet revealed; we expect that it will cost between 250,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan, which translates to 35.09 lakh rupees to 49.09 lakh rupees.
