The demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market is increasing at a good pace. Reportedly, Indian drivers are now preferring electric vehicles instead of the ones that are available with internal combustion engines. May 2026 EV sales data clearly shows the trend.
Before 2027, a total of five EV models are set to be introduced to the Indian market; they are the Tata Sierra EV, the Maruti Suzuki YMC, the Kia Syros EV, the Tata Safari EV, and the Hyundai HE1i. Let’s have a closer look at each of these upcoming pure-electric cars.
Tata Sierra EV

Tata will launch the Sierra EV on June 30, 2026. It is an all-electric mid-size SUV with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout, featuring a large boot space. Inside, there will be three screens: two touchscreens, one as an infotainment system and the other as an entertainment screen for a co-passenger, and one digital instrument cluster.
Outside, this EV is set to get full-width LED daylight running lights, horizontal LED headlights, flush-type door handles, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a connecting LED taillight. It will make a debut with a single-motor RWD and double-motor AWD drivetrain with a single-speed automatic transmission. May get two LFP battery packs that are 65 kWh and 75 kWh.
Maruti Suzuki YMC

Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce a three-row all-electric MPV; as of now, it is internally codenamed ‘YMC.’ The most expected date for its debut in India is the last quarter of 2026. They haven’t released any image, but spy shots of its test mule have already surfaced on the web in which the vehicle is highly camouflaged and don’t reveal any exterior design.
They are building the car on the Heartect-e (27PL) skateboard platform, whose length is anticipated to be around 4.5 meters. Reports confirm that the manufacturer will introduce it to the Indian market with a single-motor RWD drivetrain with a two-LFP battery pack configuration; however, they are yet to reveal the capacity of the battery packs.
Kia Syros EV

Kia will launch the Syros EV in August 2026. They have built this all-electric SUV on the K1 platform with a front-wheel drive drivetrain. It is set to get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle with single-speed automatic transmission. They haven’t yet revealed the NMC lithium-ion battery pack but anticipate it to get 42 kWh and 49 kWh.
Set to make its debut with a seating capacity of five people in a 2-2 configuration, inside it will feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard and a digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel. Also get a 5-inch touchscreen for AC controls. Other notables are the 8-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system and 64-color ambient lighting.
Tata Safari EV

Tata will launch the flagship all-wheel three-row sport utility vehicle, the Safari EV, in November 2026. The launch will add the eighth model in the EV line-up of the brand; the manufacturer is all set to position it above the Harrier EV. Outside, it is set to feature a closed-off grill for better aerodynamics and a clean in-profile view with flush-type door handles.
The carmaker is building it on the acti.ev+ platform; it will come with both single-motor RWD and double-motor AWD drivetrains. The Safari EV will become the third pure-electric SUV from the brand to come as AWD, after the Harrier EV and Sierra EV. Other features that it may get are a JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos and a 540-degree camera system.
Hyundai HE1i

Hyundai will introduce a sub-4-meter all-electric SUV in India; as of now, it is codenamed ‘HE1i.’ It comes with a rugged, upright, and boxy design. Built on the E-GMP (K) platform and set to make its launch during the festive season, we are expecting this car to make its debut in October 2026. Reportedly, it will also come with two lithium-ion NMC battery packs that are 42 kWh and 49 kWh.
Inside, it may feature ventilated front seats, a single-pane electric sunroof with sunshade, and a wireless phone charging pad. In the center of the dashboard, this electric car will feature a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel. For safety, it is set to get Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and six airbags.
