BMW iX7 Test Mule Spied with near-production lights ahead of its 2027 debut

The BMW iX7, a full-size all-electric luxury sport utility vehicle, is all set to make its global debut in 2027. The Bayerische Motoren Werke’s upcoming car’s test mule spy shots are floating on the web. In the image shared online, this vehicle is highly camouflaged; however, it has revealed a few details about its exterior. Let’s have a closer look.

The image of test mules spotting reveals it has an upright stance, a closed-off front fascia, a sculpted bonnet, lower air intakes, modern LED headlights, flush-type door handles, a roof-mounted rail, multi-spoke alloy wheels, a front door-integrated outside rear-view mirror, a roof-integrated spoiler, and through-type LED taillights.

Set to make it a debit with a seating capacity of 7 people in a 2-3-2 layout with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for all occupants. Inside, it may get a panoramic BMW iDrive display based on the windshield and a touchscreen infotainment system in the center of the dashboard supporting wireless connectivity and OTA software updates.

The front seat may be electronically adjustable and also feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions for better comfort of the driver and co-passenger. Some reports claim that the German carmaker will introduce this model for all markets with second-row ventilated seats.

Inside, this upcoming electric vehicle from BMW is highly expected to get a wireless charging pad for phone charging convenience and multiple-zone automatic climate control that helps in setting the separate temperature for the driver and co-passenger and rear seating occupants.

May come with the latest BMW Operating System, ensuring a smooth and fast user interface for infotainment, and Heart of Joy high-speed computing architecture to enhance electric motor power delivery, braking system, steering system, and regenerative braking.

It is set to be built on an updated version of BMW’s CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform with 800-volt electrical architecture. The May features adaptive air suspension with double wishbone independence at the front and multi-link independence at the rear, featuring ride-height adjustment and a comfortable driving experience on rough roads.

May get upcoming 21-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels, and all are highly anticipated to get ventilated disc brakes for powerful braking with better heat absorption. An electronic parking brake with an Auto Hold feature is set to be introduced with this model for convenience and to reflect premiumness.

2027 BMW iX7 rear design

It will get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle and an induction motor on the front axle, which act as primary and secondary motors, respectively. Set to be equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack with sixth-generation (Gen6) BMW eDrive.

Its primary motor is set to be mated with a single-speed automatic transmission, as they are going to introduce a double-motor set; it will feature an xDrive all-wheel-drive drivetrain. As of now, there’s no word about the battery pack, but it is highly expected that it may be around 130 kW, giving the WLTC range of around 800 km.

The combined power output may be around 400 kW, which will help the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds; the top speed is anticipated to be 210 km/h, the same as the BMW iX5. It may also support a DC charger up to 460 kW, which takes 23 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging.

Lunch for the Indian market is expected; the German carmaker may introduce it to India somewhere in 2028. It’s tough to say anything about its launch. We are expecting that it will cost around ₹2 crore.

Following the launch in India, it will compete with the upcoming Volvo EX90, to-be-launched Range Rover Electric, and already introduced Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
