BYD revealed the 2026 BYD Seagull on April 24 at the Beijing Auto Show, and now they have confirmed that the launch will take place on May 11. It is set to be the first A00-class model that will have a roof-mounted LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) sensor, a part of the ‘God’s Eye B’ driving assistant system.
Reportedly it will be available for sale in four variants with expected prices ranging from 65,000 to 80,000 CNY, which translates to 9,551 to 11,760 USD. Once launched, it will compete with the Geely Xingyuan, Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, and Wuling Bingo S.
January 2026’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing says that its dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 3,780 mm, 1,715 mm, and 1,550 mm, respectively; these measurements are the same as the outgoing model.
The 2026 model has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm and a ride height of 150 mm. It also comes with the seating capacity of 4 people in a layout of 2-2; the first row gets individual seats for the passenger and driver, and the second-row seats create a bench-like structure for seating of 2 people.

Despite being a small battery, it features ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for all rear-seating passengers so they don’t feel uncomfortable even in case of a long drive. Behind the rear seats, there’s a boot space of 230 liters; folding the rear gives 930 liters.
The 2026 model is set to come with a new color option of red, and all the old color options, pink, blue, white, black, and grey, are set to be retained, meaning buyers will now have more options to choose from.
Up front, it gets sharp angular headlamps reflecting its aggressive DRL signature, a closed-off grille for a clear appearance, a revised sporty bumper with more detailing, and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, reflecting the car is equipped with future technology.
In profile, stylish ORVMs add a styling touch and give visibility of traffic; flush-type door handles reduce drag that helps in improving efficiency; and multi-spoke aero-optimized alloy wheels.
At the rear, it features full-width LED taillights just below the windshield, adding a wide stance; a roof-mounted spoiler adds sportiness and also improves aerodynamics; and a layered bumper gives it more of a planted stance.
The cabin is built on Ocean Aesthetics’ design philosophy that gives a modern and youthful feel. In the center of the dashboard, it is set to get a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system as a control panel, and a 5-inch digital cluster is expected that displays all the driving data.
Features a three-spoke steering wheel with a BYD logo on it and physical buttons to improve usability. It is confirmed that the center-mounted selector is replaced with a steering-column gear stalk for a modern feel.
More details about its interior are yet to be revealed. It is expected that it will get a 50W wireless charging pad at the front row, USB charging ports in both rows, Bluetooth, a voice assistant to control music and other touch-based settings over voice, OTA updates, and smartphone app connectivity.
Built on e-Platform 3.0, it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle, whose power output is 80 hp (60 kW). Features an AWD drivetrain and uses a single-speed automatic transmission, the same as the outgoing model.
The new battery pack isn’t yet revealed, but the MIIT shows that it has a CLTC range of 505 km (314 miles), which is 100 km (62 miles) more than the previous one. The 2026 model is likely to feature faster acceleration, and the top speed is set to remain 130 km/h (81 mph).
