Exeed Liefeng EV Patent Signals Chery's Bigger India Push; Here's What We Know

Chery Automobile, which will make its debut in the Indian market by collaborating with JSW Motor most probably in Diwali, has patented a new vehicle in India; it is the Exeed Liefeng, a pure-electric shooting brake (sports wagon), indicating that after its global debut they may introduce the model in India too.

On July 19, 2026, the Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery revealed that they are going to launch an electric shooting brake, Liefeng, under the banner of Exeed for the domestic market, which is set to be equipped with a Rhino S solid-state battery, giving it a CLTC range of 1,500 km even in extreme cold conditions such as -30 degrees Celsius.

Reportedly, this upcoming electric vehicle is set to be based on the 800-volt high-voltage architecture supporting fast DC charging, will feature a 30,000 rpm electric motor making it accelerate from a dash to a hundred kilometers per hour in just 3 seconds, and will reach a maximum speed of 260 kmph.

The patented design of the Exeed Liefeng is the same as the one concept revealed in January 2026. Its overall design is totally radical and futuristic. Upfront it has an ultra-slim LED daylight running light, a full-width black gloss panel, large triangular air intakes, an illuminated Exeed logo, and a low-slung bonnet.

In profile, it boasts a sleek shooting brake profile, long wheelbase and short overhangs, flush door handles, frameless-looking side glass, gloss black side skirts, body-colored ORVMs, and large aerodynamic alloy wheels; and the rear has a roof-integrated spoiler, a full-width taillight, and a diffuser-style bumper.

As of now, there’s no confirmation from Chery on when they will introduce the model in the Chinese market. They are highly anticipated to do so in 2027. Like its launch date, its price is still uncertain. Reports suggest it will cost between 350,000 yuan and 400,000 yuan, which translates to ₹49.18 lakh to ₹56.21 lakh.

Other models that the Chey have patented in India are Lepas L4, Lepas L6, Jaecoo J5, Jaecoo J7, Jetour T2, Tiggo 7L, QQ3 EV, iCAUR (iCar) V23, T1TP, and Tiggo 8 Leopard. The first model they are going to launch in the Indian market is the Jetour T2, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

The launch of the Jetour T2 may take place between October and November 2026, with the ex-showroom price starting from ₹30 lakh and going up to ₹45 lakh. Following the launch, it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Hector, Skoda Kodiaq, and Isuzu MU-X.

It is a five-seater sport utility vehicle in a two-three arrangement. It will have a boot space of 580 liters. Thanks to a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, all occupants are set to get ample legroom and sit comfortably; it features a ground clearance of 220 mm, making it ideal for the Indian road conditions.

Features two electric motors, whose combined peak power output and torque are 381 hp (283 kW) and 610 Nm, respectively. Its transmission is a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, and its drivetrain is all-wheel drive. Equipped with a 26.7 kWh LFP battery pack, whose NEDC range is 139 km.

The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 kmph is 7.5 seconds, and the top speed is 170 kmph. It takes 30 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging. Features a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel.
