NIO, the Chinese premium EV manufacturer, has come up with a new special-edition theme for the NIO ET9, an all-electric flagship sedan, which they have named ‘Pursuing Light at the Extremes’ under the Horizon Edition lineup.
The carmaker said that they took inspiration for the new theme from the polar day and polar night interplay. Notably, its production is limited to 99 units, and each one in China is set to be sold at the price of 838,000 yuan.
They also have introduced it with the battery as a service (BaaS) model with a price of 730,000 yuan; if you go with the option, you have to pay a fixed monthly charge for battery use; the rental fee is 1,128 yuan.
Compared to the standard ET9 from Nio that they launched in the Chinese market in December 2024 with the price of 788,000 yuan, it is costlier by 50,800 yuan.
After introducing ET9, the carmaker came up with the Horizon Edition back in September 2026 with dual-tone paint and some exclusive features; they added two new colour options to the Horizon Edition, red-gold and black-silver, in November 2025.

In January 2026, they introduced only 9 units of the commemorative version for the ET9 Horizon Edition on the occasion of completing the production of one million vehicles. Even in March 2026, they added two new themes; for each, they produced 199 units.
Despite the frequent updates, the sales of the vehicle remain weak. In 2026, between January and May, they sold only 478 units. In May 2026, they sold a total of 155 units, 27 more than April 2026, registering month-on-month growth of 21%.
The new theme edition of the ET9 Horizon Edition introduced on June 21, 2026, remains the same in all terms, besides the theme update. Built on the brand’s next-generation EV architecture, Nio Technology 3.0, featuring an all-wheel drive drivetrain.
Get two electric motors: the primary one, a permanent magnet synchronous motor that is mated to a one-speed automatic gearbox, is mounted on the rear axle, and the secondary, an induction motor, is bolted on the front axle.
The front e-motor generates the power of 180 kW, but the rear one does 340 kW; the combined power output is 520 kW, which translates to 703 hp. The peak torque of both electric motors is 740 Nm.
In order to accelerate, 0 to 100 kmph takes 4.3 seconds, and the top speed is 220 kmph. Under the floor, it gets a 100 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery pack that gives it the CLTC range of 650 kilometres.

Its electrical architecture is 900-volt high-voltage, which is capable of supporting DC chargers up to 600 kW. With maximum charging capacity, it takes only 14.5 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging.
Reportedly, just charging for 5 minutes adds the range of 255 km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. Its battery packs are also swappable, which takes only 2.4 minutes, meaning you can get battery packs swapped in less time than refuelling an ICE car.
It comes with a seating capacity of 4 people in a 2-2 layout; behind the second-row seats, it has a boot space of 544 litres. Also features a 105-litre frunk (front trunk storage). The dashboard has a slim, full-width “Skyline” display instead of a digital instrument cluster.
In the centre of the dashboard, it gets a 15.6-inch AMOLED central touchscreen infotainment system that integrates with the premium 35-speaker immersive sound system. Even get a 38-inch augmented-reality HUD that projects driving data on the windscreen.
Other notable features are Steer-by-wire function which makes turning on compact area easy, oval-shaped electric adjustable steering wheel with memory function, NOMI AI voice assistant, 5G connectivity, and panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting.
